  1. Wow, Angels going for it
  2. Agree, this could have easily been a wild card team this year with some better luck in terms of health But with an aging core of Donaldson, Tulo, Martin, Morales and Bautista it dosn't look great for 2018 when the Red Sox and Yankees have a young progressing core The FO is in an uncomfortable spot this off season Only Sanchez, Stroman, Osuna, Travis and maybe Pillar look like players who will still be young-ish and above average by the time Vlad and Bo get here and hopefully stick. Donaldson may or may not decline significantly before that and Martin/Tulo obviously aren't likely to hold up well.
  3. Yeah No slight re tooling is going to make this team a serious contender in 2018
  4. What team with money would be willing to trade for him and maybe pre-sign an extension? We won't get as much if he's just being obtained for 1 year at 22M+ which he'll probably get in arb-3.
  5. Bautista hovering near the Medoza line
  6. What is this I don't even
  7. Brett Anderson starting tonight I see #WhyNot
  8. For the 2 people who haven't seen the catch yet:
  9. Damn right Machado is so damn good but... Why do I not trust him yo hold up like other superstars??
  10. They might GOAT level performance from the minute he arrived in the majors for 5 solid years LOL 53 WAR at age 26 That's just..........
  11. My updated list after some good feedback: Current players who have already done enough to make the HOF even if they retired today: Miguel Cabrera Adrian Beltre Albert Pujols Ichiro Current players who have done enough to MAYBE make the HOF if they retired today. (Will get consideration but not shoo-ins) Yadier Molina Justin Verlander Carlos Beltran Current mid-career players who will likely make the HOF with a few more good years: Joey Votto Clayton Kershaw Paul Goldshmidt Chris Sale (???) Robinson Cano Buster Posey Current younger players who clearly have the talent for a HOF career but are too early in their careers to know if they'll keep it up long enough Mike Trout Bryce Harper Giancarlo Stanton I'm gonna say no to Ortiz, Pedroia and Bumgarner who are all very good but not quite HOF caliber AFAIC I also don't buy any of the current closers as *likely* hall of famers. Some are very good but none have been elite for the majority of their careers and most seem to have great stretches followed by a fall from grace.
  12. I count 6 good to very good seasons and of course his legendary post season Not sure that's enough if he fizzles out now. Hopefully he doesn't.
  13. I think you're right And baseball writers love that sort of fluff. Er, I mean *stuff*
  14. Yes, Cano could be on list 2 or 3 as well Closers will be interesting. Obviously Rivera gets in in 2019, but after that will the writers allow a slippery slope of lesser closers? They haven't voted in Hoffman. Will they see Pappelbon, Madson, Kimbrel, etc as any better? (The thought of Pappelbon in the HOF makes me nauseous)
  15. Next year isn't that interesting for new HOF candidates Year after (2019 class) is a pitching FEST - Rivera, Halladay, Pettite, Cliff Lee and Roy Oswalt
  16. Oh s*** yeah Terrible omission on my part. Posey should be on list 2 or 3. TY
  17. Been thinking about this lately, trying to categorize guys into HOF credentials. Thoughts? Current players who have already done enough to make the HOF even if they retired today: Miguel Cabrera Adrian Beltre Albert Pujols Current players who have done enough to MAYBE make the HOF if they retired today. (Will get consideration but not shoo-ins) Ichiro Yadier Molina Justin Verlander Current mid-career players who will likely make the HOF with a few more good years: Joey Votto Clayton Kershaw Paul Goldshmidt Chris Sale (???) Current younger players who clearly have the talent for a HOF career but are too early in their careers to know if they'll keep it up long enough Mike Trout Bryce Harper Giancarlo Stanton
  18. I wonder how much hall of fame consideration will he get? He's done it all so quietly somehow
  19. The Mets walking wounded continue to pile up Cespedes now on DL with hamstring problems
  20. The turf gets blamed for all kinds of s*** Give me grass or give me... not death but you know... Give Me Grass!!!
  21. MLBTR: The Orioles received good news on the troublesome left knee of closer Zach Britton today, per MASNsports.com’s Roch Kubatko and Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun. Both reported that the Orioles came away with good news from an MRI, with Encina specifically noting that there’s no structural damage in the knee. The joint has given Britton some on-and-off discomfort for the past few years and flared up last night, with Encina noting that there is still some swelling. Both reporters suggest that the team is still weighing whether to place Britton on the 10-day disabled list to give him a bit of an extended break.
  22. We had a great time
