  1. Agreed The scouts just under rated him somehow Happens all the time just like they over rate others
  2. I found one writer who says it was 2.315M Quite a bit less than Texas had (3.5M) Glad to hear he wasn't just trying to nickle and dime teams for more money. This is pennies compared to what he should eventually make.
  3. I would imagine, I was just trying to find out how much they had available
  4. How much did the Angels have to give him? $2,315,000 ??? Signing bonus 20M to the team League minimum salary for 3 years?
  5. Maybe they'd want him yes but they're not on his short list Unless this somehow changes his mind but...
  6. Exactly "I'll only go to good teams with good front offices in big markets in good cities"
  7. Stanton now coming up with a list of teams too? Interesting And his refusal to go to San Francisco may have saved them from making a mistake
  8. mariners also got $1M in international spending money in dee trade. more for ohtani.
  9. Also, if I'm moving to Japan and know little about it, I need more than a few meetings and a couple of days before I can make up my mind where I want to go Have to think about it from his perspective, he's young and has maybe never even been to North America before this week
  10. I really want the Ohtani and Stanton deals done and over with
  11. Really though Most years, 2M in bonus pool probably buys better prospects than these I would think.
  12. LMAO @ Hunter Pence
  13. Same. But I guess it's such a small amount overall that an extra 1M must matter to him from the teams that had so little to spend they felt the need to beef up.
  14. MLBTR: Rosenthal tweets that the Angels, like the Mariners, are adding $1MM in their deal with the Twins. That pushes their pool up to $2.315MM. After trading away $1MM of their international bonus pool to the Mariners, the Twins are set to trade away another portion of their pool to the Angels in exchange for outfield prospect Jacob Pearson, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports (on Twitter). Minnesota has $2.245MM available to send to Anaheim in the deal. Pearson, Rosenthal notes, was the Angels’ third-round pick in the 2017 draft and received a $1MM signing bonus. The Angels still trail the Rangers ($3.535MM) and Mariners ($2.5575MM) in overall international bonus money, but they’re nevertheless positioned to put forth one of the best financial offers to Shohei Ohtani. All four of the NL clubs reported to be among the finalists — the Cubs, Padres, Giants and Dodgers — are capped at a $300K offer as penalization for prior overages in international free agency.
  15. Mariners and Angels have each made trades with the Twins to acquire 1M more in international spending pool money Both heavily in on Ohtani
  16. Yeah I looked it up, he's not even a billionaire any more
  17. Exactly Same as Magic Johnson (and Wayne Gretzky in my proposal)
  18. But if they do.... Katz and Gretzky A billionaire business person putting up most of the money and staying behind the scenes and a sports hero putting up less money but being the face of ownership seems like a good concept (Dodgers and Marlins being recent examples)
  19. Me too No appetite for change in the next decade
  20. Wayne Gretzky and Daryl Katz or bust
