    I was full on cheering for the Expos by June, I remember that The Yankees seemed unstoppable in the AL that year. Even though it didn't look like one of their best rosters. Wanted the see the Spos beat them in the WS.

    Post-Trade WAR Roy Halladay 17.0 Travis d'Arnuad 4.1 Kyle Drabek -0.1 Michael D. Taylor -1.1 Does replacing Taylor with the subsequent flips even make a difference? Probably not much. Drabek was the frustrating one.

    I didn't know that actually, with all the other news distracting. Though it is synthetic, the teams believe the imitation grass mimics the real thing in terms of how it plays and affects the bodies of players. “We didn’t want the best turf surface in Major League Baseball, we wanted the best playing surface in Major League Baseball,” Rangers executive VP for business operations Rob Matwick told The Wall Street Journal. “People might say baseball should be played on grass. I’d say it should be played on the best quality surface we could put our players on.”

    Thats what I was thinking The market has re set No one is giving any relievers even the best ones 12-17M a year anymore

    Getting an elite SS or Realmuto means you have to make multiple moves subsequently. It's more complex that way and I like Bichette at short and I like our catchers. But you do what you have to do to get better.

    They have seemed rather intent on getting Lindor which means they must be very willing to move Bichette to third (or Bichette to 2B and Biggio to 3B). I'm fine with that but also fine with getting Tumer or Arenado or Didi for 3B and keeping Bichette right where he is. Both plans improve the IF defense by bumping Vlad firmly to 1B

    So yeah if you can get Hendricks to sign a 3 year deal here do it He might be the best player they can sign

    Its a pretty nice position to be in that's for sure Most teams are already at their spending limit and are facing a huge drop in revenues

    They just don't have to spend it all this winter though If they can't make a Lindor deal they like, there are a bevy of shortstop options next off season including Lindor himself plus Correa, Story and Baez

    I think if they don't get a high impact SS/3B they'll be saving payroll space to add one at the deadline or next off season.

    I usually laugh when teams sign free agent closers to huge contracts But I might feel pretty good about Hendricks on a 3 year deal

    True Whether its big $$$ on Springer/Lindor or lesser $ on Bradley Jr/Gregorious/Turner the defense will be improved just by moving Vlad away from 3rd and Grichuk away from CF

    If we can't get an impact bat or frontline starter does it *maybe* make sense to pay top $$ for an elite closer and upgrade defensively at 3B and CF with lower cost acquisitions?

    The equivalent now would be Springer says no to 5/120 So they offer Bradley Jr 3/45 right away before Springer even signs anything Hasn't happened yet so it won't happen I don't imagine

    I want a big fish too I just still see Lamahieu and Realmuto staying where they are and Springer to the Mets. I'd love to be wrong though

    Thats perhaps a specific case. If rhe NL gets the DH again then the Braves prob resign him immediately They may even have a gentelmans agreement in place
