  1. White Sox sign Yoelkis Cespedes
  2. I agree Especially when: You have a glaring need that's hard to fill (front end starter, CF) Getting said player vaults you into serious contention You have a roster full guys likely to offset the balance sheet with positive value
  3. Zero surpsrise that both of these guys re-up with their current teams
  4. Hmmmmm Theo being groomed to be the next commissioner?
  5. Major League Baseball announced today that former Red Sox general manager and Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein has joined the commissioner’s office as a consultant to Rob Manfred. Specifically, Epstein will focus his efforts on “on-field matters,” including (but presumably not limited to) the effects that proposed rule changes would bring about.
  6. Yeah If he's going to be the boss he's gotta make a boss move #likeaboss
  7. Will DH uncertainty impact Mets’ Springer pursuit? Jan. 13: In an appearance on the “Big Time Baseball” podcast this week, Mets president Sandy Alderson told MLB Network insider Jon Heyman that the team is “still engaged, in a loose sense, with Springer.” However, MLB Network insider Joel Sherman thinks the club is unlikely to sign the free-agent center fielder unless it finds out the National League will have the designated hitter in 2021. With the universal DH in 2020, the Mets were able to start both Pete Alonso and Dominic Smith every day. Without it, Smith will need to play left field to keep both in the lineup. Signing Springer would bump Brandon Nimmo to left, removing the option of starting Smith there. On the other hand, Alderson has noted that he isn’t comfortable with Smith playing left field regularly, so it's possible the Mets will have a logjam to deal with at first base regardless of what they do in center field. The DH could clear that up, but an agreement between MLB and the MLB Players Association is required to institute the rule in the Senior Circuit for 2021.
  8. Seems like he'd immediately be in our top 20 prospects?
  9. Anyone with a BA subscription able to share? https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/toronto-blue-jays-2020-21-international-signing-preview/
  10. Starts tomorrow How much IFA money do the Jays have? Are we all in on Manuel Beltre or someone else
  11. So far there hasn't been a free agent contract signed that I'm upset the Jays didn't sign instead. Hendricks, McCann, May, Minor, Santana not upset with. I won't add Morton and Treinen because I think the Jays (and most teams) had zero chance of getting either due to player preference. There are trades I'd wish we could have pulled off, especially Darvish and Lindor/Carrasco, but probably not Snell in terms of trade cost.
  12. That's a realistic rotation to obtain and I could live with it There is perhaps more than an average amount of injury risk there but like you say we have the depth to back it up Bauer instead of Paxton or Tanaka would be much better but possibly not worth the cost differential and I still want money for CF and 3B. So it might make more sense to spread it around.
  13. That's what I figured
  14. Would be neither excited nor upset at having Walker back Though I'd rather trade for someone better and spend free agent $$ on CF and 3B
  15. Also probably with Morales
  16. Listening to Morosi on the radio list his HOF ballot which includes Mark Buehrle
  17. He's the Bleacher Report of baseball insiders
  18. Ang what can you tell us about Manuel Beltre?? Apologies if that's been discussed recently in another thread.
  19. He knows the goings on down there now doubt
