  1. Yeah. Everyone seems to think Realmuto will wait and wait. Springer amd Bauer may sign quite soon
  2. At this point its probably more a pride/prove himself thing rather than financial motivation. He's cost controlled for 6 years either way. (Maybe he makes a little more in arbitration as a 3B I suppose, I just don't think thats likely his main motivation)
  3. Who'd have guessed rhe Royals would be the biggest spenders so far this off season
  4. Man that bullpen needs help
  5. So he'll get right field in Fenway. That can be tricky though not as bad as center
  6. The Red Sox announced they’ve signed outfielder Hunter Renfroe to a one-year contract (via Chris Cotillo of MassLive). He’ll be guaranteed a base salary of $3.1MM with an additional $600K available in incentives, reports Alex Speier of the Boston Globe
  7. I just want him to play a position adequately, ANY position... And slash .275/.340/.610/.950
  8. Dec. 14: While many expect the Yankees to re-sign LeMahieu, there was still a sizable gulf between the two sides in contract talks as of Saturday night, according to a report from Brendan Kuty of NJ.com. USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported Saturday on MLB Network that LeMahieu is seeking $100 million over five years, while the Yankees would prefer a four-year deal around $75 million. However, Kuty’s source said the chasm between LeMahieu and the Yankees is even more than the $25 million Nightengale mentioned. MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal reported the same Monday morning, and adds that the gap is wide enough that LeMahieu will start shopping himself to other teams.
  9. Cheers to The Cleveland Baseball Team!
  10. FWIW, recent WS Champs like Nats Dodgers and Astros all relied on some high cost ace starters to win.
  11. Or trade less to get Darvish or Gray
  12. I can see Shapiro and Atkins seriously consisering a 1 year incentive-laden deal for Kluber if be looks good. But damn is he ever broken...
  13. Yeah he's not getting beat that from anybody
  14. Exactly They might not PLAY Cano in 2022/2023 but they'll have to PAY him no matter what. And it counts towards payroll and presumably luxury tax even if they bench him or cut him and pay all except a league minimum deal he might get with someone else. No getting out from under it. The Yankees tried with ARod in a nearly identical situation and no luck So the Cano savings helps them in 2021 only
  15. Thats the only possible explanation and it seems silly to me
  16. Jim Bowden just said on MLB Network that Realmuto's agent is asking for "almost 200 million dollars" (according to his sources with multiple teams). Said that Mets wanted him as first choice but they were so far apart on contract terms that they went with their plan B McCann rather than continue to negotiate.
  17. Does the MLB players association really not want the DH in the national.league this year? If so why in the actual fk?!?! Wouldn't having the DH in the NL this year: - Help players like Ozuna find places to sign - reduce the risk of pitcher injuries - encourage an agreement towards larger roster sizes I don't get it.
  18. MLBTR: Free agent right-hander Corey Kluber is preparing to throw bullpen sessions for interested teams later this month, reports Buster Olney of ESPN. The 34-year-old began a throwing program in early November on the heels of a second consecutive season marred by injury. Kluber was limited to just one inning with the Rangers in 2020 after suffering a Grade 2 teres major strain in his throwing shoulder during his first outing. That came after he logged just 35.2 innings in 2019 due to a comebacker that fractured his forearm, ending his season in May. Thanks to Kluber’s recent run of poor health, Texas made the decision to decline his $18MM club option in favor of a $1MM buyout.
  19. Agreed. This front office has spent 5 years working hard to aquire a large number of quality prospects and they have money to spend. They're not going to trade away a big chunk of the farm, guaranteed, when said farm is rhe main reason this team might have a long run of success beginning right now.
  20. They prob should have traded him last year of course Tampa does this better than anyone
  21. You get a logjam They prob don't want to trade Gurriel unless they know they're getting another quality OF from somewhere #ballsintheair
  22. Who honestly has the money for Bauer? If the Mets sign Springer on top of Stroman and McCann will they really blow more on Bauer when they probanly already like their starting rotation potential? Yankees are almost certainly out of the question for multiple reasons Angels could use him desperately and MIGHT be willing to reach but they have payroll issues Most other teams are either flat broke and/or are in no way going to contend with or without Bauer So maybe we have a real chance...
  23. Yes The power is insane Just needs to sort out the swing plane/launch angle business
  24. That swing was f'n beautiful Si senores! Adios!!!
  25. Yeah I get the feeling the Mets won't be outbid on Springer Drive the cost up so they cant afford anything else...
