  1. I wanted to comment on Happ and found this thread as a jump off point Wow but wow Happ looks bad. I'm not even sure he's even an acceptable #5 starter Here's hoping we pick up a Tanaka or Garza, and get some major upswings next year out of the DL guys (Hutch, Morrow, Drabek) And can retain Johnson on a cheap 1 year deal Egads
  2. Oh, he's a tool allright...
  3. True dat And yumm, sliced bread... Multigrain, soft, with Kraft peanut butter... Mmmm s***, I need to go eat something. LOL
  4. Agree totally And I can still see the possibility (likely? no) of Gose becoming good enough all around to become the every day starting CF. In that case you can trade Rasmus, or move Melky to DH and Rasmus to LF.
  5. Are the Orix Buffaloes as good as the Oakland A's and Boston Red Sox???
  6. Agreed. I like Rajai, quite a bit actually, but we have to save somewhere in order to afford McCann and Tanaka Gose can do what Rajai did (except hit lefties well) and do some things better (catch and throw) for 500k
  7. Gose gets my vote too The 4th OF plays a LOT, is important off the bench, and if he's fast can pinch run. Gose is the new Davis AFAIC. I value the defense too much to risk going with Sierra, even though he's a better hitter
  8. Assumptions: 1. Bautista and Rasmus are not traded, and are healthy in ST 2. Melky Cabrera is healthy and more mobile in ST and is given the regular staring job in LF 3. No new outfielders are acquired (This means no Shin-Soo Choo, sorry. The money needs to be spent on catcher and SP) Who would you take as your 4th OF and why?
  9. A poll shall be made
  10. Serious about preferring to start next year with Cabrera/Rasmus/Bautista/Gose raher than Cabrera/Rasmus/Bautista/Sierra, yes. Unless, of course, something about Gose or Cabrera or Sierra looks so different in spring training that you feel the need to change the plan' Serious about the name calling? No, you're all right Serious about 2104? No, LOL. Obvious typo.
  11. Right. Not holding my breath. If I'm AA and Gibbons I don't want to gamble on Sierra next April when they're going to be very much under the microscope. If Melky is healthier and more mobile, he gets the LF job. And I think Gose is "safer" as your 4th outfielder because of his defense. Starting pitching and defense is what killed this team in 2013, and everybody knows it. I can't see AA and Gibbons taking risks like playing Sierra early next season. If he is killing it in AAA (and I'd love to see that happen) then you might give him a shot later in the year.
  12. Yes, of course there is, you sarcastic _____. I never said he might not get better. But in a year (2104) where expectations are going to be high again, do you want to risk defensive and baserunning fiascos in April with this guy? We're all tired of that. He is probably best suited to spending most of next year in AAA and as backup to Rasmus/Bautista/Gose/Cabrera.
  13. I think Sierra will be best used at AAAA depth in case of injuries Gose appears to be the best choice for 4th OF next year. Defense and speed are probably more important than pure hitting if your 4th OF can't have all three.
  14. And Lawrie is getting smarter IYAM I don't know if he's dumb so much as just that he was way over aggressive in the past. I think he actually does have some baseball IQ, it just gets outshined by aggressiveness in the heat of the moment sometimes. I seem getting better.
  15. The problem is that teams like the Mets and Padres are pretty much shot and aren't likely to do much to help any tank cause other than their own
  16. Agree. Most games against Yankees, Orioles and Rays, all desperate to win every single game.
  17. Yep Some guys have baseball IQ (Bautista, Reyes) and some just don't (Davis, Sierra) I think you can only improve on that so much via coaching. Some guys just don't "have it"
  18. Where the Hell is angrioter these days???
  19. It's like a rolling mental roller coaster of thoughts...
  20. Shockingly, pinch hitting Gouns didn't work
  21. Must be cause it's so awesome
