  1. Robinson Cano Seeking Ten Years, $305MM by Steve Adams, Sep 26 at 9:18 AM CST With the Yankees officially eliminated from playoff contention, much of the focus on the team will shift to Robinson Cano's impending free agency, and it could be more expensive than any had imagined. According to ESPN's Buster Olney (Twitter link), Cano is seeking a ten-year contract worth $305MM as he heads into free agency. A contract of that magnitude would be the largest commitment in Major League history, but Cano's track record of elite production gives him the ability to seek something historical. Over the past five seasons, Cano is batting .314/.369/.531, averaging 160 games and 28 homers per season. A solid defender at second base, Cano has been worth an average of 6.4 WAR (per Fangraphs) or 7.5 WAR (per Baseball-Reference) over the past four seasons, depending on which version of the metric you prefer.
  2. Add ARod, their very own 10 year contract mistake Stop giving guys 10 year contracts! It's insane!!!
  3. Absolutely insane. I don't want anyone giving any player that kind of contract. It's sickening. The Yankees really do almost need to keep him, but there's a price point Cashman won't cross and that's well beyond it I'm sure.
  4. I cannot wait for this season to be over Worst. Season. Ever.
  5. Thanks. So only once between Pedro and Kershaw. Forgot about that insane (and presumably PED fueled) season that Clemens had. So this does make 2013 Kershaw pretty special. Obvious Cy Young winner despite how good Kimbrel has been.
  6. I'm surprised too But yeah that '95 combo was atrocious too
  7. Yep. One of the many reasons it's laughable that he considers himself a "run producer". He essentially only produces runs one game out of every 8 when he hits a home run. He needs to recognize that sac flies, singles the other way with RISP and getting on base can also produce runs.
  8. Hopefully he thinks he's our starting catcher from 2014-2017
  9. Too lazy to look it up. Has any starter since Pedro posted a sub 2.00 ERA over a full eligible season??
  10. In JP's mind, production is completely synonymous with RBI's
  11. True. He's probably been about as honest as he can be about JP on the air. They're OBVIOUSLY not happy with his performance. He said repeatedly that JP still has potential but that he needs a new approach and a lot of work. The tea leaves say that means AA is planning to try and replace him.
  12. The standing there is part of it. But then he starts chirping loudly at Freeman and the pitcher as he rounds the bases. f*** that.
  13. Love how McCann stops him from getting to home plate and starts yelling at him #LikeABoss
  14. Yeah, depends year to year so much on how well the home team is hitting and pitching.
  15. Zaun would be all over his sack on the broadcast every single game if we sign him
  16. What's the park like in Washington? (I have no idea but want to see what Harper can do)
  17. That ball got WAY outta there http://gamereax.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/gosekawasaki.gif
  18. Think Bryce Harper has a 50 HR season in him?? I do.
  19. It's a good thing he has even alienated the casual fans. Much easier to get rid of with less complaining.
  20. Reyes RBI single and Jays are up 1-0
  21. Jeff Blair asked Gibby on the air today if there was a chance JPA is the starting catcher next year. Answered (significant paraphrase) "oh yeah. You never know what's going to happen. Alex will be looking for ways to improve the club this off season, but you never know"
  22. Yep. There are several quality free agent catchers right when we desperately need one. He HAS to do it.
  23. Gibby's had him at DH for most of the last week. It's ridiculous.
