It's tricky, I recognize. And on the one hand I understand Wilner's point in that if there is something really wrong, now is the time to know rather than in spring training.
BUT, if Edwin could aggravate the injury by playing, and could avoid needing surgery by not playing, then I don't want him playing, obviously. I guess I'd like to think they can tell by examining him, and MRI and by watching him during batting practice.
But I'm not sure how easy it is for the medical staff to be able to tell. That's sort of what went wrong with both Bautista and Texiara. The timing for Bautista was better, because he declared himself at the end of the season after trying to come back. Tex was really bad because it was at the start of the season IIRC.
