  1. Time to see if the hitters learned anything first time through.
  2. I think it's just the mic placement, but still pretty amusing.
  3. Well, if we had just stranded a runner at 3rd with no one out, we'd hear about it for the next 5 pages. Hopefully we can make them pay for it.
  4. Batters jumping away from pitches right down the pipe to try to draw a walk should get an extra automatic strike tacked on.
  5. Last year, there were 19 2nd baseman who put up 1.5 war or higher. (22 in 2011, 21 in 2010) Not sure they're quite as easy to find as you suggest. We definitely need to address it though.
  6. Lawrie played 2nd today in his rehab assignment (very interesting), so I suspect we will be looking to both buy and sell. I don't think Rajai nets 2 prospects of any worth, but I could see 1 midlevel one and agree with trading him and Oliver. I disagree with trading Lind (think he's more valuable to us than what we could get in return). I absolutely agree with trading Janssen if the return plugs a hole at 2nd or 3rd (although I hate to lose him). JJ is more complicated, and personally unless we got something too good to pass up on I'd rather hold onto him and take the pick or try to resign him at a discount.
  7. Lawrie with a big day. 2 for 4 with a home run, stolen base, 3 rbi, and playing 2nd base. Good outing for Romero too.
  8. Umps need to get on board with encouraging JPA to walk, not calling stuff off the corner strike 3.
  9. You have to think they'd have some interest in a guy like Gose. They'll look for control, but they have some extra depth in the IF and we do in the OF. It would make sense. Both players have question marks.
  10. It's entirely possible that Buffalo's rotation next year could have 5 guys with the legit ability to start in the majors.
  11. I'd prefer Smyly personally, but either of those two guys would be a good move imo.
  12. I think Happ has options too. Realistically, a few guys on the 40 man are likely to be traded at the deadline (hopefully to net us an actual 2nd baseman). If Rogers puts up a few more good starts he could be a perfect choice to move.
  13. Are you comparing mid-season data this year with end of year data last year for attendance? Most teams probably draw better during the summer.
  14. Or perhaps as ransom for NOT turning on images in sigs ...
  15. That was my general thought as well, but honestly I think it would be better to keep both him and Boni. Get rid of DeRosa and get either a true 3rd baseman (moving Lawrie to 2nd) or a true 2nd baseman. Boni (regardless of his struggles) and Izzy are actually pretty damn good bench options.
  16. Our best trade fit appears to be the Tigers by a wide margin. Something along the lines of Janssen + Loup + Gose + Rogers FOR Castellanos + Smyly perhaps. Not sure that quite gets it done, but should be a good basis.
  17. The Rangers took a HUGE risk on Darvish. It's looking like it's going to definitely pay off for them, but that's the kind of move that can cripple a franchise for years if you get it wrong. For where we were at the time, I'm not upset nor do I think we should regret not getting him. Like many others, I would have loved to have gotten Latos though.
  18. WAY too early. Injuries / life happens to players. One major injury to Trout's legs and he becomes the current Alfonso Soriano.
  19. Trout is way WAY too young and early in his career to make statements that he'll be one of the best players ever. With that said, everyone wanting to compare other players to Trout is ridiculous.
  20. There may be other ways to offer incentives, such as guaranteeing they start at a certain level or are fast-tracked, etc. Maybe they get special access to extra instruction or something too.
  21. Only Rajai would choke up on the bat while taking a home run cut ...
  22. Beltran stole home on a double steal in the Stl/Mia game.
  23. I'd be very happy if we could resign him for something like 5/60 or 5/70. I think we should let him walk if that doesn't do it though.
