That isn't true at all imo. JPA has the same kind of raw power that EE has when he keeps his swing short, so he's going to hit a lot of them regardless. Better plate discipline would probably increase his home run numbers if anything.
Kawasaki has good at-bats, but he's had terrible results vs lefties. So has Boni, but he's been marginally better than Kawasaki and gains the platoon advantage. It's a defensible (but meh) move.
Let's NOT bring Molina back. He has no bat, and is something like 2nd or 3rd behind JPA in passed balls this year. McCann or Ruiz would be nice though!
Lol @ the NHL draft. The booing is starting to get to Bettman. "I have a trade to announce, do you want to hear it?" (sarcastic voice like he's talking to a 5 year old)
Many don't seem to have the plate blocking skills (or they don't want to get run into). Pitch framing seems to be hit or miss, but may have more to do with the pitching staff's command which could explain why many catchers aren't good at it when they first come up.
The blocks were legit, and his pitch framing seems to be visibly better after he had a day or two with the Jays roving catcher instructor. They need to get that instructor back up here for a good 2 weeks working with him every day.
Rogers is 7th in the AL this year in fastball velocity as a starter (non-qualified obviously). That's higher than Verlander (not that velocity means a ton).
