  1. Gibbons even won an argument with the ump. Everything we're doing right now is coming up Jays!
  2. We really need to improve in our sliding technique
  3. Hammel has a good breaking ball tonight. Gonna have to lay off that with two strikes.
  4. Found this article on ESPN.com regarding the trend towards higher strikeout rates in baseball. Interesting (and slightly disturbing imo) read. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/9404316/mlb-players-striking-record-pace
  5. Ideally Davis never comes to the plate with anyone on base. If we have several runs lead, pitch to him. Otherwise, intentionally walk him. If he goes 0-0 for the series with 12 walks, so be it.
  6. Lind has been averaging about 4.5 per game since he's been in the lineup regularly. He also currently has 213 PA coming into today (it's 3.1 PA, NOT AB).
  7. Seems that the Japanese Nippon League was frustrated at the lack of home runs, so they decided to juice ... the balls. Finally they had to admit it. http://espn.go.com/new-york/story/_/id/9404524/refreshing-honesty-nippon-baseball-league
  8. It's been doing that periodically for me too. Is there a setting somewhere that automatically marks a thread as read if it's older than a certain amount?
  9. I think a prospect subforum would be appropriate since there seems to be quite a bit of interest, and keeping it all in the main thread is either cluttering things up or restricting how easy it is to keep good information readily discussed/accessible. It's not a big deal either way though.
  10. You could question how Gibbons ran spring training, but aside from that I have pretty much zero complaints about what he's done managing the team (maybe one or two odd bullpen moves, assuming other guys were available). How often can you say that about ANY manager?
  11. Here we are. Relievers have outperformed their FIP every year since 2002, and their FIP has outperformed their xFIP every year as well (Fangraphs only has xFIP from 2002 and on). http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=rel&lg=all&qual=0&type=8&season=2013&month=0&season1=2002&ind=0&team=0,ss&rost=0&age=0&filter=&players=0
  12. I posted about that the other day. Relievers on average outperform it, and starters underperform it.
  13. The fact we don't play each other soon makes it kind of pointless to retaliate. Just take the win and move on.
  14. Might be more effective to do so at the deadline, provided the return gave us more immediate and future value than it subtracted. He'd have an extra 1/2 year on the contract, and a few teams that look desperate for relief help (like the Tigers).
  15. I'd kind of say we'd be better off either moving Boni to LF and calling up Negrych (if we don't mind crowding the 40 man even further), or just wait another week for Reyes to come back and have Melky and Reyes swap spots on the DL.
  16. Not sure about that. Gose has 22k's in his last 12 games since going back down.
  17. We really need to DL Melky for a few weeks. Time it around the ASG so he misses fewer total games.
  18. Trade the Jays a ransom for him so you don't have to face him
  19. Only a few more days until Reyes returns ... only a few more days until Reyes returns...
