  1. Or trade for one (like Price). There was a lot of talk about that earlier this year too.
  2. That makes me want to break my rules about betting lol.
  3. I'm pretty hesitant to give up Gose without having much in the way of a backup for CF (pretty much just Pillar I think, who's more of an emergency guy there), but maybe we could get Saunders from them as part of the trade. We're also going to have potentially 2 outfield holes next year, and not much available at center.
  4. I will laugh like hell if this falls apart on the physical too.
  5. How the hell did they miss making THAT!
  6. Little bit, but still useable
  7. Arencibia is much better defensively. Montero is a fairy tale (or nightmare) for teams right now. He's the new Brandon Wood except he can't play the field.
  8. Borderline, but probably was a foul. More upset at Hansbrough there.
  9. Yeah, possibly with LESS bat lol.
  10. Maybe, but if it's for less than the QO it would be quite the black mark for Boras.
  11. Hard to say what the perfect fit is, and hard to say what the true talent level of Franklin is (he's a Boras guy btw, not that it matters until he reaches FA). If we trade Gose, I think we have to get a CF in return unless we plan on extending Rasmus or signing someone like Gardner (which would probably mean getting Saunders in return). The CF market is very thin next year. The price for Franklin depends on how you view his talent. He could be worth Sanchez, or Happ + Cecil + Nolin might be perfectly fine. We also don't know if Seattle is still stuck on using guys like Franklin (who still has options) as collateral for a big trade.
  12. Ubaldo is the best option regardless of the cash. We can trade Happ etc to free some up if necessary. Ideally we'd sign Ubaldo AND Capuano, and trade Happ lol.
  13. Quick, contact the Mariners and pawn off Happ ++ for a 2nd baseman!
  14. The agents for at least 4 FA shortstops next year just got a belated Christmas present lol.
  15. I still have to think the Phillies will need to dump some salary, along with likely a starter. Kendrick is probably the most obvious choice (no I don't want him).
  16. Whoever it is, I'm betting it won't be the fish (or if it is, it'll be heavily backloaded). I think they're quite enjoying their low payroll and massive profit.
  17. I thought I had read that the Phillies were past their budget already? I wonder if they'll look to trade someone now, since they actually might have a pitching surplus.
  18. Closest post I could find so far to fit this, and it was too good to waste http://www.gocomics.com/nonsequitur/2014/02/11
  19. I wonder if you could actually make a case that who is the SS and who is the 2nd baseman should be dependent on who is at bat? If you have a left handed pull hitter or a right handed opposite field hitter (Jeter), you might actually be better off swapping the 2nd baseman and shortstop. (or the alternative being the Lawrie shift if no one is on base)
  20. It's all part of their master plan: 1) Corner the market on 1st baseman and play them all out of position. 2) ??? 3) Profit!
  21. I'm not really sure. Quite a few other teams with the same report date though. Maybe some teams traditionally have more games lost to bad weather during the spring or something (pure guess).
  22. I have to think that he'll want a longer term deal to sign with us due to the damage our park and division could have on his stats for a contract at the end of this one (since a lot of teams would use that against him whether they believed it or not)
  23. Looks like Pestano didn't enjoy his arbitration hearing very much: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/02/al-central-notes-indians-jimenez-masterson-royals.html
  24. Yeah, but the structure makes it sound like he can earn the full amount whether he's starting or relieving, which goes back to the question of why it's structured like it is.
