  1. Yeah, I'd want it a bit front loaded considering he'll be 33 when he signs it. Still, his velocity has actually increased a little the last few years, and we know he can be successful in our division.
  2. AND a copy and paste fail lol
  3. Based on age I'd certainly be more comfortable giving Masterson a 5 year deal than Shields, but I'd easily take Shields on a shorter deal.
  4. This was pretty good (especially the part about Kawasaki and the USA/RUS game) http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/jays-to-open-spring-training-in-chilly-dunedin/
  5. He put up a 3.18 ERA in the second half of the season last year, with a K/BB of 3. The wins aren't a stretch if our offense if healthy (and no black hole at C or LF).
  6. It might not be THAT big a stretch on Buehrle, even if unlikely - certainly more likely than Joyce at any rate imo.
  7. Snider is an obvious one. I think Kelvim Escobar as well (soooo much potential). Also Josh Phelps.
  8. That's too bad, I was kind of rooting for him.
  9. But what if Boxy loses one of his good players?
  10. Weird, not letting me delete the other after double post.
  11. That one, the bees nest one, and the canoe one I think are my 3 favorite.
  12. I think King deserves a 24 hour ban for bumping this thread after it had finally died.
  13. It's a little unclear as to how good Redmond is, but he's looking like he's better than run of the mill.
  14. If you look at 2008, the Jays payroll compared to the non-ridiculous teams is very similar to what it was last year. In 2008, when you exclude the Yankees we had a 97.8M payroll and the other top teams had 130M to 138M. Last year when you exclude the Yankees and Dodgers, we had 117.5M and the other top teams had 148 to 165M. There has been a lot of inflation the last few years, so to ask what JPR could have done with a decent payroll - well he actually had one.
  15. I think Redmond would be the perfect long man, and if I remember right there was an article about him not caring what his role is - he just wants to be on the team.
  16. Let him have a full season in AAA (catching a damn good rotation too I might add, and the arms he'll be catching up here in the future). No sense in bringing him up early when we have good options there already.
  17. It might be if things go right, but CC didn't look great last year, Tanaka is completely unproven, Kuroda is 39, and Pineda missed the last 2 years to injury. Soriano is a bit of a question mark himself, as is Jeter and whoever they play at 2nd and 3rd. There's enough that could go wrong with that team for them to wind up anywhere from first to last in the division.
  18. Do we really want to see pictures of women age appropriate for Spanky?
  19. I think google loses something in translation on that one lol
  20. Little premature on that, since pitchers and catchers haven't even reported for all teams yet. They should be at the same point right now as everyone else, and should be able to absorb a week or two on their own. Once games actually start though, then it starts getting a little more dicey (unless you're a guy like David Wells). I agree though that they must be starting to get pretty desperate, and should sign sooner rather than later.
  21. Well, what I can take from those pictures are that Lind looks a little slimmer to me, Morrow looks fantastic, Lawrie doesn't look quite as bulky (which might be a good thing), and Romero just doesn't look "right" (don't care quite so much about the gut, since at this point his biggest issue is between the ears). And Lind really needs to lose that damn beard.
  22. Apparently having a kid too lol
  23. It has Price to Seattle all over it imo
  24. Run properly doesn't include giving someone an astronomical amount of money at a position of strength, then proceed to sign every player they could find who doesn't have the ability to play in the field and play them at even harder positions than they normally might occupy.
