  1. I don't think it would be that high (although I'm just guessing as well). It seems like he doesn't have the kind of upside that many of the other did, just a higher floor. I would think something closer to 5/40 would be what he'll come in at.
  2. I believe Beane was also given a minority share in the team or something, or a least a cut of profits. I think that might have more to do with him staying than the freedom.
  3. I don't think I'd be too happy with 5/66. Something like 5/55 (and front-loaded) I would probably be okay with (or 4/44 with an option). I think with Melky, you either give him something like 2 years at high aav, or 4 or 5 at lower aav. He doesn't strike me as someone who will age well.
  4. That would be awesome just for the reactions from everyone in the States. Totally fair though.
  5. You should flip him for Halak
  6. There may not be any compensation if it's not technically a lateral move.
  7. Interesting. So what exactly is happening there? Colletti failed upward into a higher advisory role, and Friedman technically is the president and GM, but has the option to hire someone else as the GM if he wants? It almost sounds like the Dodgers made up a new position for Friedman to get around a no lateral move policy or something...
  8. Not according to this (was in Spanky's post):
  9. The Dodgers may have been better off putting a yes man as President and paying Friedman bucket loads to be the GM...
  10. Wow! I'm curious what people will say about him though, if he starts signing pricey old free agents, etc. There have been a number of guys (quite a few who learned under Beane), who when they left to a big market club everyone assumed they would be some kind of god, and they pretty much all spent unwisely it seems. It'll be interesting to see if Friedman does, or he brings the Rays philosophy with added ability to plug holes. This would also seem to indicate that the Rays are going to rebuild, does it not?

Yeah, yeah. Didn't link it for the article.

Ouch! That's a lot of empty seats (the first picture is from warmup, but the rest aren't). http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2230759-florida-panthers-nearly-empty-stadium-fuels-relocation-rumors?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial&hpt=hp_t2
  13. Yes, lol. No way could the dogg stay that quiet.
  14. I might have to raise my price on Josh
  15. I'm assuming you guys are talking about Billy Hamilton?
  16. I believe that would fall in the "you don't want to even think about it" category.
  17. You see what Zeros is doing against me (at least on offense)?
  18. Yeah, that's really annoying.
  19. Could one of the admins fix the spelling of Zeros prospect Josh Morrissey?
  20. Don't let a Jeter addiction get the best of you. Fight it, we have faith!
  21. For whatever it's worth (and certainly not expectation on Rasmus moving forward), last year Saunders + Gose put up 3.2 WAR in 537 PA, while Melky + Rasmus put up 3.2 WAR in 997 PA.
  22. Out of curiosity, what would people be willing to pay for the #2 waiver priority?
  23. Reyes and Hanley... defense would suck, but the offense would sure be fun to watch.
  24. Kopitar is almost exactly 1 year younger I think, not a big deal. No, +/- certainly isn't completely random, but it's only partially under a player's own control (which was the point). If he gets traded, or (two?) years from now moves on to a poorer defensive team (like Wheeler is on) as a FA, those numbers likely nosedive, although probably stay positive. That sort of thing is the reason that I think you can only project +/- out for a year or two. Over the last 2 years, Wheeler: 130 games, 47 goals, 63 assists, +1, 240 hits, 107 blocks, 10 PPG, 16 PPA, 354 shots Kopitar : 129 games, 39 goals, 73 assists, +48, 160 hits, 69 blocks, 10 PPG, 29 PPA, 298 shots If it's extended to a 3rd year, Kopitar evens out the goals and keeps the assist lead, but everything else basically keeps the same pattern. I admit that Kopitar does have a more extensive history of high end play. Especially considering Wheeler has been producing on a bad team, and Kopitar on a good team, I don't think it's unreasonable to think that Wheeler could be equally valuable going forward. If the Jets take a leap forward (and I do think they will), he could be more valuable imo. I don't think at the range they were picked, one is a fantasy killer while the other is an absolute stud, but I do understand people preferring Kopitar. I also admit however that, unlike baseball, I'm really just a casual hockey fan. I don't dive too deep into the advanced hockey stats, so maybe they say something different.
  25. I'm a Canucks fan. Let's see where these players end up after this season. BTW, over the last two years, the only real difference between Wheeler and Kopitar is a large gap in +/- for Kopitar (a stat hard to predict more than a year or two ahead in dynasty), and additional hits, and blocks for Wheeler. Everything else was pretty damn even. With the Jets presumably on the rise, I expect to see Wheeler's numbers go up. Again, we'll see.
