    I'd still like to get Iwakuma in addition to someone else. Shouldn't be too expensive prospect or money wise.

    Depends what we give up. I wouldn't be too happy if we gave up someone like Hoffman for Cashner, but Ross is a different story.

    There's a big difference between 4 guaranteed cheap years and a 7 to 10 year high value contract.

    No reason for them to. Picking up the phone and telling teams he might be available would get almost every team instantly involved. Media not required (and would also prevent the home fans from rioting). Regardless, this seems like the kind of fit the Dodgers would be dreaming of, and they have the position prospects the Indians are dreaming of.

    Rumblings he might be available, and the rest is just media speculation on what teams would be most interested and have the trade chips to land him.

    Take a deep breath, call in the cleaning crew, and remember that if you're hearing it in the media it probably isn't true. AA doesn't like leaks.

    I don't have a problem giving up guys like Norris or Hoffman if we're getting a high end pitcher with several years of control. Giving up either of those guys for a two month rental would be absolutely retarded though.

    I'd say it's just age related, but he might actually be improving as he gets older. Which is scary.

    Well, 6 in 4 innings seems to have gotten Yimi demoted in spite of his 2.85 xFIP, and Liberatore has been at about a 4 xFIP over the past 2 months I believe, which given the increasing walk rate is believable. He'll be part of the future, but may not be ready just yet. Howell is pretty solid, but he DOES have a 3.76 xFIP. Nicasio seems extremely average at best, along with command issues. There's plenty of room for improvement, and like I said, the revolving reliever door seems to suggest they think so also, which is the most important part. There is definitely a fit for the Dodgers to add some relief help imo. I doubt the Phillies would add prospects to get Puig, and upgrades are upgrades for the Dodgers. We'll see what eventually happens.

    Yimi got demoted (which is odd given his 2.85 xFIP and a team that's saber friendly), Liberatore has given up 10 runs in his last 12 innings, and is starting to have command issues, Nicasio has his own command issues, and it's questionable if he's actually any good. Howell is okay, but very lucky so far this year. Peralta has been a disaster. IMO if the Phillies are interested in Hamels, and Puig is going the other way, then those two guys make the most sense to be included. The Phillies aren't going to want to part with extra prospects when dealing Hamels.

    They've also used 18 different relievers this year (the same number we have incidentally), and their 2nd best reliever in xFIP (who's thrown more than 7 innings) just got demoted for giving up 6 runs in his last couple outings. I think it's safe to say they aren't comfortable with their relief. Also, Jansen kind of skews things a little, with his godly 1.12 xFIP.

    Their pen currently consists of Baez, Howell, Jansen, Liberator, Nicasio, Peralta, and Tsao. I'd have to think replacing Peralta and someone with two very high end relief arms (which would give them a pen that could probably rival SD) would be pretty tempting for them.

    I doubt they would straight up, but a couple reports have Puig causing some clubhouse issues. I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade involving Puig and Hamels. Maybe something like Puig for Hamels, Papelbon, and Gilies, with the Phillies paying Papelbon's salary next season?

    Yeah, I agree. The comments seemed to be pretty set before. I'd also say it means they probably aren't looking to pick up someone like Papelbon (which I'm happy about given his contract).

    I think Zobrist's defensive decline is primarily due to his knee injury in April. It'll probably improve over the next few months.

    It's sss, but this year he's actually hit righties slightly better. Maybe he'll regress, or maybe the reports on him working really hard to specifically improve his approach vs righties is paying off. Time will tell.
