  1. Finding available, positive WAR hitters (at league min) at the DH spot might not be as easy as you think.
  2. Jays have been making a habit of doing that to pitchers recently.
  3. He's been doing a lot of fishing for breaking balls, and teams have been happy to give him a steady supply of them. As soon as he knocks that nonsense off, he'll be fine.
  4. Looks like someone needs to revert back to the 11:27 pm revision last night, and then reenter today's stuff.
  5. If we're trading away a SP, it would be interesting to nab Brett Anderson for the remainder of the season. Get a look at him while it doesn't matter. Maybe you can sign him for the min the remainder of the season, with a team option for next year if you're guaranteeing him a spot the rest of the year.
  6. There's zero reason to keep Liriano unless we think there's some microscopic chance of making the playoffs. Otherwise, we're just paying several million for the hell of it. Save that money for next year. Burns would serve fine as a 4th outfielder, is controllable, cheap, and a stolen base threat off the bench. We could do a lot worse. He's basically Barney / Goins in the outfield, but with added stolen base ability.
  7. WTF? Yahoo said he wasn't playing today when I checked a few hours ago, so I benched him
  8. I'd love that, but I'm not sure we'd get that type of lottery ticket. Maybe the demand is higher than we think, who knows. I could see a guy like Billy Burns being a reasonable return.
  9. Verlander for salary relief please!
  10. He had to be put on the 40 man anyway I think (or maybe he was already). Probably not a big deal.
  11. Finally. He needs an extended look this time.
  12. I'm not sure about easily, but there is certainly hope. I think we need one really good starting pitcher (plus resolving the Sanchez blisters), and either a LF or 2B (Travis could probably move to LF if necessary, which might keep him healthier). That's assuming JB returns of course. Whether management will pony up for any of that is anyone's guess. IF Detroit is willing to dump Verlander's salary without a blue chip guy also coming back, he'd be really interesting as the pitcher (I'm assuming we don't want to pay through the nose for someone like Darvish in FA). Dee Gordon could be interesting at 2B.
  13. Rodon now has 8 k's through 3 innings. He has given up 4 runs though.
  14. At this rate, we could be for the #1 pick.
  15. The losses are probably better for us right now. Keep going, please.
  16. We basically gave up someone who would probably never be called up, for someone who might actually provide some use for us. Hard to dislike it.
  17. When the ump falls asleep, then guesses ...
  18. Definitely. Having issues moving and throwing, no power at the plate. I sometimes wish they'd just DL guys for 2 weeks, let them take care of it, then be actually good the rest of the year. Playing through the injury at replacement level, while not allowing it to heal, doesn't help anyone.
  19. I'm willing to move a reliever (and have lots of good ones), but not for Anderson.
  20. I'd be happy if we PAID someone to take him.
  21. Do they have to be healthy?
  22. O'Neill was never going to work in Seattle's outfield. He's not a first baseman.
  23. Jays_fever should have my R1 next year from this.
