    Man, Stroman's velocity is WAY down. He's not far off being Buehrle now.

    He's not an ace anymore, but the stats are still legit. He wouldn't be a terrible option to slot in as a #4 on a 1 year deal. The recent fatigue issues are a little more concerning though. Montas or Paxton could also be affordable 1 year deal candidates for a bottom of the rotation role.

    Man, Pop has some great stuff if he could just figure out where it's going.

    Maybe sign Bregman, either Joc or Winker for DH, Gleyber and Jansen. Move Horwitz to LF. Pick up some decent RP wildcards like Graveman, Brebbia, and Minter. Grab whichever decent SP agrees to a short term deal. Probably unrealistic, but that should be a pretty good team. I guess you could go the other way too, sign Bregman and Soto, then kick under a bunch of cans to figure out the rest of the team.

    Not really since he doesn't play SS or 3rd. Clement should basically be taking IKF's role. I agree that selling high on him would be wise.

    Right? Next year might be a team of Stars and a bunch of interchangeable guys. Might not be the worst strategy in the world if we can land 2 impact bats.

    That's actually a mildly interesting return. With them absorbing the salary, that should give us a shot at getting under. Fangraphs says we're at 241.8M and we need to get under 237.

    Fortunately it looks like it just got his nose and brim of the hat. Clearly unintentional, but this has to be the end for Rodriguez.

    I wonder who the new closer will be come tomorrow? We may very well see Zach Pop closing games the rest of the way.

    I don't think the #1 pick to the highest non-playoff team makes sense, but I do think that all teams that miss the playoffs should be in the lottery with a (slight) advantage to the higher placed teams. I think it would vastly improve the quality of the game late in the year, but still allow teams to get a look at young players. I've thought that's a model that would make sense in our fantasy leagues too.

    This trade seems fine to me. All 3 of those guys look like they have some potential. Hopefully one of the three will become something interesting. I'll miss Jano.

    Poor decision by Springer to dive for that. He had no shot and probably could have held the runner to a double.

    I'm fine with Cabrera being non-tendered, but for whatever it's worth he's actually been pretty good for the last 2 months. I could see someone desperate squinting a little and taking him off our hands (maybe with us eating a little money). Non-tendering Romano would be silly. Not sure about Swanson. As far as Little goes, DOES he suck? He's put up a 3.18 xFIP so far this year and similar in AAA. He's probably not a front-line arm, but nothing wrong with that as a 2nd lefty.

    This is a stupid trade. We're basically getting organizational fillers for a guy who isn't making anything for the next few years and is a tweak away from being very good. I can't imagine a deal like this wouldn't have been available in the offseason regardless of how the rest of this season went.

    I don't know if it can get much worse. I wouldn't mind seeing what Fluharty can do though.
