  1. Yes, we need a forth catcher.
  2. I'd like to see Buck and Tabby mention that the Jays haven't beat a Lefty since May 26th.
  3. so far only North and I have put a number on paper. lead the way for the "he sucks crowd". For the record I am a big supporter of advanced stats. Only part I disagree with is the "he pitched great" or he's unlucky every single time a pitcher under-performs their FIP. McCarthy has survived with a 20+ line drive rate for much of his career. There are successful guys that have numbers like this, but most are relatively inconsistent unless their K-Rates are elite (thinking Darvish here). There are several guys that I'm all over in fantasy baseball that put up high line drive rates (Miley, Chen, Medlen, Minor, Eovaldi, Wood and my new fave Kluber) but I can tell you that those guys can be pretty frustrating to watch at times.
  4. as much as that was enough for me to ban him...I'd still prefer you message us directly with this kind of proof rather than quote a suspected repeat offender. Thanks
  5. Okay then everyone lets get something in writing. Predict McCarthy's stats with the Yankees. Innings pitched and ERA should suffice I'll go with 88 IP and 4.07.
  6. Honestly you probably wouldn't be cause you'd just see him getting hit every start. As much as the advanced stats show he'll be better than what he was...they also said that last year. He gives up a shitload of line drives (more than flyballs this year). I am not disputing the move itself but I'd guess that D-Back fans are generally just happy to get rid of him...he's likely in need of a change of scenery. The Yanks should get his change up back into the repertoire, it was a good pitch at one time but the A's had him abandon it.
  7. the first series back east after a west coast swing is always very tough. There are gamblers that play these all the time regardless of the pitching match-up regardless of the teams and over history have done very well. I'll try and get the real numbers but I think it's around 67% (I can't remember if that's the first game after swing or the series though).
  8. Priorities might change from short-term to short-term but making sure there is at least another year of control but the Jays needs haven't really changed that much with the injuries.
  9. it's okay Drabek picked up the pieces for him.
  10. Meh...neither are even in the top 10 wRC from 2006 to 2009.
  11. Best duo of the aughts was? ManRam and Ortiz Walker and Helton (obviously only the early years) Pujols and Edmonds Bonds and anyone. Outside of Bonds and anyone (which would be Kent). I'd go with Pujols and Edmonds over the other two. Carry on now I just thought I'd throw this in.
  12. Interesting Cubs fact...their 5th best batter this year by fWAR is Travis Wood.
  13. I know this game is on the road but M's 8th best wRC on the road...28th best at home. Or in old school terms 158 runs in 43 games at home, 202 in 43 games on the road.
  14. An interesting little tidbit as far as prospects go...only once in BA's history has one team had three top 10 prospects (2011 the Royals had 8, 9 and 10 with Hos, Moose and Myers), it's only a mid-season list but on BA's list went out to special people like me on Thursday and the Cubs now have the 2, 5 and 7 prospects.
  15. They might have the most interesting young roster crunch in a few years. Likely they will have to trade some bats for pitching eventually. If anyone on their current team builds any value they can keep their top 10 under 25 together. They should be dangling Castro in front of the Jays, as much as he's playing well he's had one horrible season already (last year) and making $6M with a $1M raise each year, and is likely less valuable if he moves to 2B.
  16. I said this partially tongue-in-cheek as I don't believe the Rays are talented enough to make up this kind of hole...but I still think they will win more games than the rest of the division the rest of the way. They were 15 games back 4 weeks ago...9 now. If they make up 6 games in the next four weeks Jays fans around here will be s***ing. I might throw $5 at the 28-1 on them to win the East just so I could use it as my avatar if the Rays ever came back.
  17. I think there were power struggles in Boston and certainly the moves in Boston were very different at the end of his tenure compared to what we saw at the start and what we now see in Chicago...and I don't read books (not kidding actually even Money was an audiobook for me)
  18. It only wastes an option if you send them back down. If they stay up all year nothing changes. Sanchez has to be added to the 40 man in October anyway. It's only Norris where this is an issue. They will come up after the super two deadline and the year of service time option too. So we'd still have 6 MLB years of them left.
