  1. There is a huge difference between top 10 prospects and the rest of the top 100. Gallo for Bautista is quite fair and probably still rejected.
  2. they make the playoffs and this is a moot point
  3. Spanky is right they have always had an undisclosed innings limit on Sanchez. I've read this for months. However I also heard they had one on Hutch, which they seem to be willing to ignore for the sake of big league hope for this year. Why one and not the other? As for those saying this is the Cards method...my joke was about the Jays making the move in the minors like there is some sort of adjustment period moving to the pen. Just let him start with an innings limit in the minors regardless of what you intend to do with him in the majors.
  4. Drabek has walked just 13 in his last 49 minor league innings (35 K's over the same period). Drabek to the pen is an experiment that actually makes sense.
  5. I've been meaning to add the DFA Valbuena in favour of the Babysitter to that thread anyway. That's the problem with all those relievers on other teams...they never had relieving practice in the minors. AA has a secret weapon. I jest, as this obviously has to do with his pitching limit they put on him...like throwing just 4 innings all those games wasn't controlling his innings. Now the question eventually will end up being asked...why a limit on Sanchez but none on Hutch?
  6. Buehrle is in the other Tommy John family the one you want him to be in. He continues to surprise me.
  7. What I think is realistic 1. Trade Reyes to the Tigers for Iglesias and Knebel 2. Trade Janssen to the Angels for Yarbrough and Alvarez (Yes I just traded for my second reliever) 3. Trade Bautista to the Braves for Alex Wood and Lucas Sims. 4 Trade Buehrle and some cash to KC for Hunter Dozier (if he can be a RF long term) 5. Trade Lind, Rasmus, and Cabrera for what I'm not sure as I really can't gauge their trade value 2015 1B. EE, 2B Yarborough/Izturis/some other option, SS Iglesias, 3B Lawrie, OF Gose and not sure. SP Stroman, Dickey, Wood, Hutch, Closer Knebel I think I can do better than this but it's really a team that can compete pretty quickly depending on what I could do with the OF.
  8. Gallo smashes windows...but Stanton smashes hands. Can we figure out exit speed by damage 450 feet away Nox?
  9. Moogy is the judge of true baseball fandom, GD is the judge of maturity and Nox is an *******...well at least one thing is right with the board.
  10. They always start a conversation...which leads us to figure out who didn't read the article or understand it (which appears to be most here)
  11. Here is a crazy thought...how about looking for someone to replace Melky who maybe isn't putting up good offensive numbers but will next year or at least will put up way more value. Someone like Scott Van Slyke (who can play all three OF positions and 1B (Mattingly sucks this guys dick all the time so I don't think he'd be as easy to trade for as before...but there are always guys like him out there)...Chris Heisey, Eric Young, maybe a cheap platoon. It's really not tough to replace Melky.
  12. he didn't really do anything to re-stock the farm. A few prospects have turned corners and are having great years...and they had what is perceived to be a good draft which is part is due to not signing a player from the year before and also from stinking it up last year.
  13. The shady part comes from them tying Aiken to another Close client who has agreed to overslot money already. You take these guys from a shady business world (thinking Friedman and Luhnow here) they are going to treat the baseball world like the business world. If you find out info that saves you money...you use it. Coming from the investment world, I've seen worse things and it's just everyday business. I'm not sure if it's good for baseball or not but the MLB shouldn't be surprised.
  14. We'll do so well in 2013 that the increases in 2014 just won't matter, thinking that went through the head office's mind.
  15. Fan decides to rush the mound after a hit by pitch http://deadspin.com/minor-league-baseball-fan-tries-to-fight-opposing-pitch-1604842743?utm_campaign=socialflow_deadspin_facebook&utm_source=deadspin_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow
  16. the MLBPA sold out the amateurs and always will. I got to say that the Astros should be forced to honour their contract to Nix regardless of what happens with Aiken.
  17. JJ has it right. He followed that up with how much of a mess it will be when the draft goes international.
  18. Forgot I had Baseball Heat Maps DL info saved. Blue Jays position player injuries 2010 Travis Snider - 63 days wrist John Buck - 15 days Thumb Edwin Encarnacion - 166 days Shoulder/wrist 2011 Rajai Davis 170 days Ankle Adam Lind 27 days Back Yunel Escobar 17 days Elbow Brett Lawrie 6 days (end of the season) finger Johnny Mac 21 days Hamstring Corey Patterson 11 days concussion Jayson Nix 21 days Shin contusion Colby Rasmus 23 days jammed wrist 2012 Ben Francisco 35 days Hamstring Jose Bautista 38 days wrist JP Arencibia 43 days Hand with a little ego bruising Adam Lind 31 days back Brett Lawrie 34 days Oblique David Cooper 42 back Jose Bautista 39 days wrist 2013 Brett Lawrie 45 days ankle Brett Lawrie 15 days rib cage Colby Rasmus 42 days oblique Colby Rasmus 8 days eye Edwin Encarnacion 12 days wrist Jose Bautista 40 days hip (sucks getting old as a guy with a bad hip I can understand) Jose Reyes 63 days ankle Macier Izturis 39 days ankle Melky Cabrera 49 days knee Melky Cabrera 24 days knee Rajai Davis 24 days oblique.
  19. It would be one thing if the team was refusing to look into grass options, but they have tried to look into options and it's not just a simple solution. Not to mention the injury data does not show it to be true. Yes the Jays were 4th in days lost last year and second in DL stints. That brought them up from 10th to 5th in the rolling DL days ratings. in the 2010 - 2013 rankings the Jays are behind; The Padres, Red Sox, Yankees and Dodgers. Three of those teams are also among the oldest in baseball...something the Jays joined them in over the past two years. The Rays are 28th in average days lost from 2010 to 2013. I'd like to see the data without pitching arm injuries.
  20. Hulet has never cared about walk rates for pitchers in the minors. He has 7 guys on that list that have an over 4 BB/9 rate (although Bundy shouldn't count)
  21. Josh Naylor (17 year old from Mississauga) made the finals of the Junior HR contest. Hopefully it gets a little TV time. He's going against some kid from Texas that hit 8 out (Naylor hit 6)
  22. and we almost got it...glad to see you are a convert
  23. To become Presidente of Greater Mexico (DR, Cuba and Old Mexico).
