A better thread might be to look at the most likely relievers to be moved: Papelbon (13M this year, $13M vesting option that is going to be close to the number) Clippard (free agent next year, guaranteed to get traded, likely for less than what Oakland gave up to get him). Cishek (got $6.5M in his second of four arbitration years) Francisco Rodriguez ($7.5M next year) Teams usually don't give free agents multi year deals and then trade them the same year, but he is getting a solid raise next year and he has a lot of value right now. A smart GM would move him. Chapman (one more arbitration year, likely will get $10M) John Axford (One more arbitration year, likely won't get over $4M) Those are the guys that are probably top candidates to get moved. Really not sure what the asking prices for each will be but relievers always seem to go for much less in the off-season in comparison to trade deadline.

I was huge on Bryant at number 1 but I haven't given up on Appel yet either. Hitting 97 in the 8th inning last year in his second last start was a sign that it's there. Another session with Strom is likely needed.

I see him as a Wade Miley or Kyle Lohse type. Good slider, below average fastball. He's increased his sinker usage which explains the GB increase. He’s throwing more sliders, coming inside to righties way more, and he’s working a lot more quickly. He needed to change something from last year so that's the biggest positive I can see is that it's different. Sustainable is another thing.

I think that's about right. I just don't see him over 4.0 in the end.
