  1. he's also a month back from surgery. Don't get me wrong. I would have traded Hoffman while hurt just based on the Giolito effect, but I don't think we can judge anything but his Velocity right now.
  2. people love the unknown. Hoffman not blowing away hitters isn't unexpected (he didn't K a guy per inning until his junior year at EC) but if you asked people before his first start what his numbers will look like it probably would have been much higher than Junior year numbers.
  3. The big question is why would you even bother to talk about fatigue? What they are doing is not against the rules or hurting anyone financially. This should have been just discussed ahead of time. Right after your start we are sending you down to the minors. We will recall you in 10 days for the last game of the series against the Red Sox instead of the first one. Which also means that he misses the Indians, another good team against lefties. It's a good decision but somehow the O's turn it into something slimy.
  4. taking a look at moving Chad Allen and Alex Wood. Let me know if you have interest in either or both. I still plan on whooping NJH's ass this week so my direction might change
  5. For the record this story was leaked for good reason...there is something that was starting to get reported upon and they didn't want that. This was much easier than having Chris Archer literally s*** on the mound
  6. I got a chance to test the Motus biomechanics lab when I was I down south (turns out I have bad pitching and golf mechanics). It was fascinating stuff. To move this stuff out of the lab and on to the playing field is where Motus hoped to go next. Looks like they got beat to the punch. I'd love to know why the State of Florida is the front runner for this stuff? It's not like there are great minds out there.
  7. Well I've always felt that King's collection of shirtless ball players was thread worthy so if this ends up being his go to place, than something has been achieved.
  8. As per request, this is the thread for stuff on the Jays which isn't thread worthy...but gets lost in either the GDT's or the Around Baseball.
  9. yep every team should be telling their fans to vote for Royals.
  10. anyone? They dropped from 100 - 1 to 9 to 1 in the off season. Even some smart people were thinking "maybe". Of course I know you and I, among many others here were laughing pretty hard.
  11. He's barely walking anyone, he's getting K's. And the ball is staying in the park. Why does anyone think Noah is not pitching well? He's giving up hits. He might have to abandon the Sinker or do something about it. Opponents are batting .422 on it and 30% line drive rate, but chances are that's just a small sample size and more the factor of his game in SD that gave up all those hits. . That's similar to what happened to Masterson the past couple of years, his Sinker was very hittable during certain games.
  12. Great stats in that San Diego game for Thor...4 innings 6 GB's 4 hits 5 line drives, 5 hits 1 FB, 1 HR
  13. you should face him in Fantasy Challenge...stupid f***er
  14. EE and Castro for Carlos Carrasco. Jays get potentially the better player (with a better contract), offense is still better than average without EE. Shapiro doesn't have to worry about his job but it doesn't mean that desperation won't set in. Jays fans s***...would be nice to see if AA has the balls to trade an existing piece for improvement and longer term during the season.
  15. sure does...they get Washington and then Cleveland (under 12 runs for the whole series combined?) but then it gets easy again.
  16. Didn't Carlos Gomez break up another perfect game?
  17. number of pitching staffs that are better than the Rays DL list? I'd say half at the most. DL SP 53 Alex Cobb R 27.7 DL SP 55 Matt Moore L 26 DL SP 23 Jake Odorizzi R 25.2 DL SP 56 Burch Smith R 25.2 DL SP 33 Drew Smyly L 26 DL RP 38 Jeff Beliveau L 28.4 DL RP 59 Andrew Bellatti R 23.9
  18. the projections don't believe in Travis' power, the only one I might disagree with is walk rate for him. K-rates are rightfully projected lower than they have been. I don't think the projections are that off though.
  19. 2 months changed how many viewed Lawrie for the next 4 years
  20. got to live and die with the projections though. Travis with projections between a 93 and 98 wRC moving forward...Lawrie 102 to 104 at a more premium position and better baserunning. This isn't pointed at you, but it's fun to watch those that noted every good thing in Lawrie previously and look for the bad now.
  21. I've never been a Lawrie guy, and that tear he's been on is not sustainable numbers (25% K Rate, low BB rate, high BABIP). That said I still think that Lawrie is probably a better player (and hitter) for at least this year and next. I just don't make the trade because Devon is min contract.
