You can't compare a knuckleballer to a normal pitcher. You can't say it's unlucky when it happens on a regular basis. Let him pitch four innings a game and take him out. A 5th or 6th inning implosion is almost guaranteed, every game. Yes, over reaction, but I can't stand watching this guy on the mound. You just wait for the implosion.

Every couple years I remind myself how good Barry Bonds was. When he was 40, he hit .362/.609/.812 1.422OPS He had 45 home runs. He was walked 232 times that year, which is over 100 more than the next closest. Even his last year, at 43 years old, he hit .276/.480 with 28HR and 3.4WAR. In a full season he would have been close to 40HR and 4.7WAR with terrible defence. 11th in the league in slugging that year. Yet no one was allowed to sign him the following year. He probably could have played three more years as an above average DH.

Samardzija is pretty good, I wouldn't give up the farm for him though. And I'd want to extend him, but he thinks he's worth more than he is. Outside the box, Dickey+ for Lee. Evens out the ridiculous contract a bit and I bet Dickey pitches well there. Then we have Lee for two more years, along with Bau, EE and Lind.

Well he is new, but he was right. We have a whole forum for off topic stuff, so we don't really need one in the baseball forum. If we have one or not though, I don't care, it just needs to be decided upon. He was just doing his job and did it properly. After I thought about it, I said I guess it could have been moved instead of closed. But when I opened that thread I didn't know waht the f*** it was either, until I came here and went and took another look at it.

Honeslty, I don't think there's a single person that could honestly say that thread was going to go anywhere positive. The first three posts pretty much said wtf is this. I think the title and the poll just made it confusing more than anything.

2.45ERA in five starts since he's become a starter.

4.08ERA, where he's also been bailed out more than once. Two times off the top of my head he was pulled (and mad about it lol) with the bases loaded and nobody out. We got lucky and got out of both those situations, the odds of us getting out of those situations with no runs was probably one in a million. That would have put his ERA to mid 4s. He's not terrible, but if we were going into the playoffs, this guy is going to be one of our starters. RA Dickey, and Buehrle, who is pitching over his head. Dickey, MB, Stroman, Hutch, Happ, whoever you want is going to be scary going into any playoff series if we make it. We have more than enough mediocre pitchers on thsi team. I hated it from the beginning as well, which is why I'm still bitter about it. And I hated the FL trade. But 90% people were so excited we actually did something, they couldn't see past that, and how terrible the moves actually were.

I don't think anyone would give anything to acquire him, but I have a feeling if he went back to the NL he would do pretty good.

Yeah it's not the best stat, but I find it interesting if it's for a long record like Tanaka is doing. I've always found it funny 6IP 3ER is a quality start, but that's a 4.5ERA. If Happ went out and pitched 6 innings and gave up 3ER and had a 4.5ERA, we would be pretty damn happy, as bad as 4.5 sounds.

Tanaka now has 15 quality starts in a row. Wonder what the record is? 11 of his 15 starts he gave up 2 runs or less. That's unbelievable. Dwight gooden went 25 before giving up more. Ended up with 34 of 35 games QS. Probably a couple similar seasons by pitchers.

We didn't trade for a mid rotation starter. We didn't give up prospects for a mid rotation starter. I don't know about you, but I dread every start of his. Even Hutch or Stroman, I think, I hope they're on today. But Dickey pitches, I wonder what inning is it going to be where he blows up? 4th? 5th? He made it to the 6th, here we go.

RA Dickey is terrible. Our only hope is he somehow has a good second half like he did last year.

With traffic and trolls increasing, we need another moderator. The other moderators and myself have discussed in length, and have all agreed up o2cui2i as a new moderator. It was a long discussion because we have so many great candidates. When it came down to it, we decided with o2cui2i because: - He's level headed - Not biased, won't be swayed to ban people - Stays out of drama - Doesn't bash people - Won't go ban crazy - Long term member - Different timezone to monitor when the rest are sleeping Thank you o2cui2i for accepting. Thank you to the rest of the members, it was a tough decision, we literally had 5+ candidates we had to take a long hard look at. We are trying to crack down on the ******** going on. GDTs have been a mess, and we've been cleaning them up the last couple days, o2cui2i should be a great help in that. On one last note, we don't need/want posts saying, "Ban xxxxx" or "Why isn't xxxx banned?". The mods are on often and know what's going on, they don't need a dozen posters reminding us what they need to do or how to do their job.

Just want to bump this and say enough of people accusing members of being a past member, unless you have proof. Someone signs up and makes a post and already five people are accusing him of being a past member. Do you really think we're going to get new members posting when you guys jump down their throats after their first post?
