Seeing as the Jays are all but done in the WC race, wouldn't it make more sense to hold off and have Max pitch what could be his last major league game at home in front of the Toronto fans this weekend? I know the rotation is in shambles but is there no other option but to have him pitch today in front of like 100 people in a meaningless game?

Or if management is thinking we could have a reverse-1987 scenario on our hands then schedule him for game 2. If we win game 1 he starts and if we lose and are eliminated he gets held back for Friday or Saturday.

Until the math says otherwise, gotta put your best foot forward. If they think Max is the best chance for a win today he goes.

Anything else is disrespecful to the game and the other teams in the chase.

Ask Max if he'd rather start a game that still could mean something to the teams playoff hopes (however slim) or ... not, just to pitch at home where it only might matter. Pretty sure I know what his answer would be.

You're not wrong; they may have even gone to Max to see what he'd prefer and I agree he'd probably value pitching in what could be a meaningful game moreso than not. It's really too bad that September's continued lack of offense and now some pitching injuries really made the WC race a moot point in this last week.

Anytime there is 1st and 3rd with less than 2 outs, you know it's a Vlad GiDP. Hit bat is too high and back. If coaches haven't found this they should all be gone.

I'm sure the coaches and analysts all know what's wrong. It's up to Vlad to change things though, and I honestly think a lot of this is his own stupid stubbornness. We'll see if he changes his mechanics in the off season, because he probably needs to do something major.

Why would he change his mechanics.  He isn't owed any more money.  He has been paid for what he did 2021 to 2026, and now his career is... I don't know, not exactly over, but he isn't being paid so doesn't have much incentive to improve.  

He got the 500 million for his 2019 to 2026 totals.   But isn't getting any money anymore so like anyone would, just chilaxing and chopping some ground balls.

Vlad Guerrero Jr. REFUSES to hit 40 homers, apparently because he hasn't been paid.  He was paid for what he did in the past not for the future.  According to the logic we need to offer him another contract for the future.  Maybe give him 400 million more for 2027-2031 to at least do something those years.
