Need a good start out of Bieber so we can trade him

Would be huge if Bieber can pitch 6 to 7 innings and allowing a max 1-2 earned runs with some K's.

We need Gausman and Bieber to showcase themselves to other teams.

It seems watching the call ups from Buffalo out performing the veterans is the only bright spot this season.....Love to see the dead weight gone soon.

Don Mattingly is 47-27 since taking over as manager for the Phillies, they were ten games under prior.. Our management is f***ing clueless and only wants "yes men" as manager. Maybe bring back Charlie Montoya, lol.

It is wild.  I don't think anyone here thought Donny Baseball was good at anything.

You also have no idea if Donny is a yes man or not. He is working for his son now.  You think he's consistently pushing back and going against what he wants?  Unlikely

It's not even that, it's the presence of a manager who's been there and done that. JS brings nothing of the sort to the table, same goes for Popkins.

Don Mattingly has never won anything in his life lol. He was embarrassed out of town with the Dodgers and Marlins, and yes now that he gets to be a reverse nepo baby in Philly he was the winning force behind the 2025 Blue Jays all along, lol.

I'm with Org on this one.  I think most of your feelings that Donny has "been there and done that" and thus that makes him much better than managers who didn't play in the big league, or who have less experienced is an extremely flawed view.

I won't discredit what Donny and the Phillies have done since he arrived, but there's often no justification for it.  To suggest Donny is some miracle manager just doesn't seem believable.  I keep saying this, but baseball is full of unpredictable and unexplainable swings - often with a lot of luck involved.  People may not like hearing that, but I think it's true.  I hope Donny is enjoying all of this - it must be a ton of fun with his son being the GM.

I can't make it through full games recently.

Would be nice to see Bieber get a couple more K's on that pitching line.

Obviously - but I'll take this all day.  B2B great outings coming out of the AS break is exactly what we need.  We might get more than a bucket of balls for him now.

Recently most of the Jays games were over by the bottom of the third. Cant blame you for that.

Jays gotta explore trading Varland. If you can get anything in the realm of that Mason Miller package you have to explore it. A closer is useless when you’re several quality pieces away from being good. Jays basically lost its whole foundation in the 2025 off-season. Bo left and Vlad had his Baseball talent sucked out of him. Gotta sell the rentals but if you can sell high on guys like Varland and even Ernie you gotta take that opportunity all day.

This will be a similar retool to what we did in 2024.  The Jays are only trading guys who cant help in 2027 so there's 0 chance Varland is going anywhere.  Too much money at stake for them to pivot to a rebuild.

Don't get crazy.

Varland doesnt enter free agency until 2031.

They're going to try and compete next season, they won't burn it all to the ground;  that rules Varland out.

IF there is a next season.

Trading rentals for lottery tickets is a smart move obviously, but they shouldn't be trading anyone away who has control and will help win next season (and they likely won't), unless it's somehow an upgrade.
