if he decides he wants to do it, he'll do it, as we saw in the post season and we have seen in during his white hot streaks.

Is it a mental thing with him where he doesn't want the pressure of having to deliver consistently?

Or has the way the club has spoiled him and given him preferential treatment over the years created a certain mindset with him?

Who knows?

My impression is it's more like the yips that players get when throwing.   I am sure it's not work ethic, or mental toughness.

Like other have said he did in the playoffs in the most pressure games possible.

Like something gets messed up in his swing, very small, hard to detect, hard to fix, just a biomechanical weird glitch.

Maybe it can never be fixed.  Or maybe the Red Sox can fix it

2026 .260 2 homers 57 rbis

2027 .190 0 homers 38 rbis 67 gidb

Commisioner transfers Vlad to Red Sox to see if they can fix him but Blue Jays still have to pay his salary

2028 .388 67 homers 201 rbis

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
the band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
and somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;
but there is no joy in Hogtown—mighty Vladdy has grounded out.

Classic Blue Jays 2026: one step forward, two steps back.

As soon as Lauer came into the game, the air went out of the building and everyone knew what was coming.

Lauer s*** the bed.  The Jays are taking 2/3.  You guys talking like the season is done.

We are basically waving the white flag when we put Lauer in the game.

Contending teams don't do that.

We are not in a position to throw games.

I think the uncomfortable truth might be that they were cheating, or at least doing some aggressive sign stealing, in the playoffs. How else to explain Vlad?

How do you explain New Hampshire, 2021 ?,  second half 2024.  The homerun contests,

New Hampshire - John Schneider first plays with sign stealing schemes getting coaches to relay pitches to Vlad.

2019 - Schneider gives Vlad the signs in homerun contest

2021 - Schneider perfecting sign stealing with Vlad

2022/23 - Teams counter more protective of signs

2024 - Second half Schneider comes up with new scheme.

2025 - uses new scheme on and off so other teams won't clue in.  Brings it out for playoffs...

OK.  I'm possibly with you here.

Depressing room in here today. Took 2/3. Better than the last series. Time to get some pay back on the Rays!

So the team wins 2 games out of 3, but it's one step forward two steps back. I don't think that math makes a lot of sense.

Time to get swept by the Rays again!

Junior Caminero - average exit velocity 3 games series 112 mph.  total distance 2200 feet of homeruns.

22 years old.  Unlimited future.  Unbelievable hope.  Such a joy to have a 22 year old do special things.

Gausman - down to 89 mph on fastball continuing trend, lose 11-0

Cease - pitches well but loses 1-0

Okamoto - 3 errors, total distance 500 feet, split between 5 popups.

Stangstag proven right about Okamoto.   All hope lost.  Rays fans cheer.

How many more chances is Lauer gonna get

Hopefully that was his last. Send him packing and call up another reliever who can give you multiple innings. Run a bullpen game every 5th while slowly stretching Miles out to like a 5 inning guy.
