if he decides he wants to do it, he'll do it, as we saw in the post season and we have seen in during his white hot streaks.

Is it a mental thing with him where he doesn't want the pressure of having to deliver consistently?

Or has the way the club has spoiled him and given him preferential treatment over the years created a certain mindset with him?

Who knows?

My impression is it's more like the yips that players get when throwing.   I am sure it's not work ethic, or mental toughness.

Like other have said he did in the playoffs in the most pressure games possible.

Like something gets messed up in his swing, very small, hard to detect, hard to fix, just a biomechanical weird glitch.

Maybe it can never be fixed.  Or maybe the Red Sox can fix it

2026 .260 2 homers 57 rbis

2027 .190 0 homers 38 rbis 67 gidb

Commisioner transfers Vlad to Red Sox to see if they can fix him but Blue Jays still have to pay his salary

2028 .388 67 homers 201 rbis

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
the band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,
and somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;
but there is no joy in Hogtown—mighty Vladdy has grounded out.

Classic Blue Jays 2026: one step forward, two steps back.

As soon as Lauer came into the game, the air went out of the building and everyone knew what was coming.

Lauer s*** the bed.  The Jays are taking 2/3.  You guys talking like the season is done.

We are basically waving the white flag when we put Lauer in the game.

Contending teams don't do that.

We are not in a position to throw games.

I think the uncomfortable truth might be that they were cheating, or at least doing some aggressive sign stealing, in the playoffs. How else to explain Vlad?

How do you explain New Hampshire, 2021 ?,  second half 2024.  The homerun contests,

New Hampshire - John Schneider first plays with sign stealing schemes getting coaches to relay pitches to Vlad.

2019 - Schneider gives Vlad the signs in homerun contest

2021 - Schneider perfecting sign stealing with Vlad

2022/23 - Teams counter more protective of signs

2024 - Second half Schneider comes up with new scheme.

2025 - uses new scheme on and off so other teams won't clue in.  Brings it out for playoffs...

OK.  I'm possibly with you here.

So the team wins 2 games out of 3, but it's one step forward two steps back. I don't think that math makes a lot of sense.

Time to get swept by the Rays again!

Junior Caminero - average exit velocity 3 games series 112 mph.  total distance 2200 feet of homeruns.

22 years old.  Unlimited future.  Unbelievable hope.  Such a joy to have a 22 year old do special things.

Gausman - down to 89 mph on fastball continuing trend, lose 11-0

Cease - pitches well but loses 1-0

Okamoto - 3 errors, total distance 500 feet, split between 5 popups.

Stangstag proven right about Okamoto.   All hope lost.  Rays fans cheer.

How many more chances is Lauer gonna get

Hopefully that was his last. Send him packing and call up another reliever who can give you multiple innings. Run a bullpen game every 5th while slowly stretching Miles out to like a 5 inning guy.

Thought you had me on ignore.

In the meantime, go ask AI what the term 'figure of speech' means.

I shouldn't have to explain something so basic to you but you just used the figure of speech incorrectly. The team literally took two steps forward and one step back based on the Angels series wins and losses. I am going against my instincts and removed you from my ignore list for now to see if you are capable of rational discussion after getting some practice.

That's just insufferable right? Why you've practically been tarred and feathered!

Soriano was on the mound today for the Angels, so you figure if they were to win a game, this would be the one. Plus, the Jays had Lauer going in after Miles.

This weekend was still encouraging. Taking 2 of 3 to start the home stand is a positive start. Bats came alive on Saturday and they won a close game on Friday. Dylan Cease had his best start of the season. I'll take it!

Hopefully we can take 2 of 3 against the Rays.

The bad news? We keep losing and the Rays are coming to town.

The good news? Eric Lauer will not pitch against the Rays (and hopefully never again in a Blue Jays uniform).

This response proves my point.

You do make me laugh though. Thanks for that, we all need a good chuckle watching this ball club flounder.

Taking 2 of 3 from a bad team is the minimum a contending team should do, and not be celebrated like it was an unbelievable achievement.

John Schneider basically threw a game today. Not a good look for a team that is 18-22.

There hasn't been much to celebrate early on this season haha.

Have to take small steps. Taking 2 of 3 each series at least is a step in the right direction and hope there is a streak in there where the Jays could win 6 or 7 in a row. The Jays can't afford to lose 5 in a row or get swept by teams like the Rockies, White Sox or Twins like earlier in the season.

I see you haven't moved away from the exaggeration and strawman arguments. Literally nobody said that winning 2 of 3 games was unbelievable but it's outright dooming to suggest that's not a positive result.

You love that word strawman, Did the AI teach you that? Or is it just a natural part of your glittering vocabulary?

Never said it was a bad result, I said it was the minimum we should expect.

I don't think it's any exaggeration to expect us to win a minimum of 2 of 3 against a bad team at home.

Anything less than a rave review of the ball club and the Happy Clappers go into meltdown.

You are literally hopeless at discussing your opinions like a normal human being. It appears as though you need to work on your vocabulary on top of your social skills as you are lacking knowledge of some very basic terms. I didn't learn the term from AI, but I'll do some AI copy/pasta for you so that you can learn what a strawman argument is. Don't try to pretend that this isn't what you do as this perfectly encapsulates your posting style and is present in literally every single reply that you make towards others.

Quote
A straw man argument is a logical fallacy where someone misrepresents, exaggerates, or fabricates an opponent's argument to make it easier to attack. Instead of addressing the actual, nuanced position, they "knock down" a fake, weak version (the "straw man"), giving the illusion of having won the debate. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Key Characteristics and Tactics
  • Oversimplifying: Taking a complex argument and reducing it to a silly or extreme version.
  • Misquoting: Taking words out of context to twist the original intent.
  • Fabrication: Creating a fake argument that the opponent never made and attacking that instead.
  • Misrepresentation: Focusing only on a weak, minor point made by the opponent while ignoring the main argument

You are so clever Max!

I was so wrong about you.

You are funny though - I mean you deny you use AI, but then use it to support your argument (whatever it was).

Keep them coming - you're good hittin', just like Lauer.

Sigh this is what I get for trying to engage with you in honest discussion. I should probably just add you back to my ignore list as you have zero social skills or ability to connect with others, are unable to engage in earnest discussion without creating fake arguments or exaggerating opposing views, are completely unaware of your basic failings to the point that you think you are winning arguments that should be embarrassing you etc. There have been some really awful posters on this board including one who revealed he was a diagnosed psychopath but never have I encountered as flawed a poster as you are repeatedly presenting yourself to be.
