Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Are the Rays legitimately this good again, or are they due to slip back a bit? I never try to underestimate the Rays, but I'm also skeptical they're coming back this hard and fast. RA Whiffleball Verified Member Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago They certainly benefit by flying under the radar every year. They are playing with house money every season. We should be grateful they don't have wealthy owners, otherwise we wouldn't get a sniff in this division. Their scouting and player development are off the charts. Shapiro and Atlins always brag about how many years of player development experience they have, but our system pales in comparison to theirs. You can see they are well coached on both sides of the ball. And remember last year they had to deal with a lopsided schedule because of the damage to the Trop, otherwise I think they would have been a factor. The one thing that hurts them is their stadium - they seem to get a ton of injuries every year, and I am sure playing on that turf and that awful infield at the Trop doesn't help them.
Laika Community Moderator Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago "The Rays with Money" is a self defeating hypothetical That's like saying "Batman without Trauma" The lack of money made the Rays who they are. They were born in the Poor. Molded by it. Spanky__99 and RA Whiffleball 2

DownSouthBlueJay Verified Member Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I swear JS Line-up decisions need to be studied because why wouldn't you put the only guy on this team that's hitting homers in the clean-up spot?I'm just saying. Lenyn Sosa batting clean-up smh no wonder this offense is struggling.

Putting your best hitters at the top of the lineup is pretty common place these days and there are studies that support it. 1st, 2nd and 4th are the optimal places for your top 3 hitters. It just turns out our top hitter has a mental block and doesn't like to bat anywhere but 3rd. DownSouthBlueJay 1

Yeah, batting your home run hitter ahead of your on base guy (that's what Vlady has been so far) doesn't make sense to me. RA Whiffleball and DownSouthBlueJay 2

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago It's wild that McClanahan can miss 2 straight years, lose almost 2 MPH of velo and remain a very effective pitcher. Spanky__99 1
