The problem with check swings is that they are completely subjective. There is no defined definition of what a check swing is. The rule book states that it is an "attempt to strike at the ball". An attempt can be interpreted differently by every umpire. There is no such rule of the bat crossing the plane of the plate or the batter breaking their wrists. This rule needs black and white definition, like the strike zone has now with ABS.

Fun game to watch.  Good start to the year.

Vladdy with a bad challenge, a tootblan and an ignore 3rd base coach all in one game.  He's a good player but needs to tighten some things up to be considered a great one.

It all worked out in the end at least.

He's showing excellent discipline at the plate so it's just a matter of locking in his timing a bit and he'll be off to the races.
