Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted January 3 Posted January 3 BREAKING: Japanese third baseman Kazuma Okamoto and the Toronto Blue Jays are in agreement on a free agent contract, sources tell ESPN. Spanky__99 1
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 3 Posted January 3 This has to mean Bo's 100% gone unless we trade one of Clement/Gimenez right? Spanky__99 1
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Interesting move. Know nothing about him other than the stats, but as I mentioned before, his offensive profile screams Blue Jays. Curious to see the terms and where they plan to play him. Also, another Boss Atkins signing that none of the engagement farming hacks on social media were talking about. That man works in silence.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Nice, now go out and sign Tucker boom for icing on the cake haha. max silver, Spanky__99 and leaffie 3
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Feels like another move is coming soon. The IF/OF is getting more crowded by the day Need a DFA also, probably another arm
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Have to assume it was a bargain that the Jays couldn't pass up. And no this doesn't eliminate them from adding Tucker or Bo.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Absolutely love this. Legit looking hitter who will probably play all 4 corners. Big upgrade offensively on the likes of Lukes/Schneider/Clement. Clement as a super utility or starting 2B. Don’t know the cost yet but I doubt it’s more than $15m AAV and 3 years. This allows the Jays a lot more flexibility to just get any one of Bichette/Tucker/Bellinger/Bregman at the best possible value. Spanky__99 1

JaysForever Verified Member Posted January 3 Posted January 3 There was a recent story suggesting he can play left field, not sure how valid that is.

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted January 3 Posted January 3 MLBTR was 4/64 The Athletic was 4/78 Given what we’ve seen the other two big Asian signees end up with I’m going to assume everybody likes this contract when it’s announced Spanky__99 1

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted January 3 Posted January 3 1 minute ago, Jays24 said: What's his best position? 1B but Vlad plays there. He can play LF which is where the bulk of his playing time probably will be despite playing most of his career at 3B. He's not a very good Third Basemen and he would unlikely play the position ever over Clement or Barger.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted January 3 Posted January 3 I just really want one of Bo/Tucker so hope this doesnt impact that. Its getting very crowded for our team so its hard to see how this move doesnt impact that.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 3 Posted January 3 If they see him as a LF, then I feel like Bo is a more realistic signing now than Tucker (assuming the Jays land one of them). Although Bo at 2B, Barger at 3B, Tony in RF, and Okamoto in LF doesn't scream great defense.
