Yes! This is great news to come home to. This is quite a bit more than I expected him to get but glad we were targeting him. One more BP add and then Bo or Tucker and this is an A offseason.

Atkins probably has FU money to spend this winter if Rogers at $12M+ AAV was added before the big FAs came off the board.

Atkins moves typically come out of no where (see Cease, Ponce, and now Rogers), so the fact that they are so specifically linked to Tucker makes me think they'll end up signing Bo.

It'll be one or the other, likely the latter, because of the ties to each other, I wouldn't go a penny over 300M for Tucker.

If they like him, I like him!! If it's their money and not my own, I like him! If this doesn't prevent the team from going after more studs, I like him!! Good pickup tonight. This was just a sparkler. Maybe the big fireworks will be this weekend!

Fireworks all offseason.

Rogers had 77 and 81 appearances the last two seasons. A durable relief arm with John Schneider as manager is a recipe for an insane amount of appearances.

Mike Marshall's record of 106 games in 1974 for the first time is in jeopardy. Pedro Feliciano has the modern day record or 92 in 2008. Both Rogers and Varland may challenge!

With how much this front office loves their lefty/righty matchups even if it means a AAA arm over an established righty... I really wish theyd get a true shutdown lefty so I dont have to clench the buttcheeks seeing Little/Flaharty in the 8th.

You would still be clenching your buttcheeks with Josh Hader.

Given where the Jays are in their competitive window/win curve, it wouldn't surprise me at all if Tiedemann ends up being that lefty at some point this season.

We probably don’t need him but Pete Fairbanks at a good price would be nice add to give us a super deep Bullpen. And someone else with closing experience if Hoffman falters.

Hoffman

Fairbanks

Rogers

Varland

Garcia

Fluharty

Fisher

Lauer

This is your pen and you got guys like Little, Bastardo, Bruihl, Lee, Miles, Nance, and Schultz on the outside looking in. Insane depth.

Lol like we've had a bunch of Josh Hader's in our bullpen...

I hope we give more of a look to Lauer if hes in our bullpen.  Dude was money for majority of the year and was underused down the stretch.

After the playoffs, Varland going for 162 this year.

In that situation Bastardo would be looking in from Boston since he'd have to be returned if he isnt on the roster.

Great problem to have though

I'm guessing it's Bruihl DFA'd to make room? I've never seen a pitching staff this deep in Toronto. It's insane:

  • Hoffman
  • Varland
  • Rogers
  • Garcia (if healthy)
  • Nance (no options)
  • Lauer
  • Berrios

Are probably locks if healthy. Then you have Miles who was picked in the Rule V. Bruihl is out of options. Then in AAA you have:

Fluharty, Little, Fisher, Tiedemann etc...

Like, the AAA crew is better than some teams' MLB pen.

They can flip an arm or two for actual prospects if they want, because they don't actually have room for all of the pitching.

Yeah the Jays BP depth is insane. Lacks an elite guy but gotta hope Hoffman returns to being the guy he was in Philly and maybe you get someone like Fisher or possibly Varland to step up as elite late-inning options.

Yea I added both Bastardo and Miles to that list as depth options but they will have to be returned if they don't make the roster. Both likely won't unless they begin the year on IL. But crazy things can happen in Spring.

Thielbar for cheap could be interesting on a LHP front. Definitely not necessary though.

Man if you thought Little was frustrating to watch

If they signed Tucker then Bo maybe out. But man oh man, what if Ed Rogers just said fk it, I will sign the check and let’s go for both haha.

However, if Tucker in and Bo out, will they trade Berrios to acquire Marte.  I read somewhere that Arizona would need a starting pitcher in return if ever they move Marte.

What an offseason so far.

This is basically a 4 year deal. Getting a vesting option based on appearances for a reliever on a team with JS as manager is brilliant on the agent’s part. Rogers will reach 110 appearances between 2027-28 by like May 2028.
