hanton Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Always fun watching Scherzer pitch
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Just saw highlights of Kirk playing yesterday with Buffalo. Sucks that we had to put him on the IL, he easily could have just played with us yesterday. They gotta change the concussion IL rules to allow a player back as soon as he's cleared.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Ty France in the lineup again 1B today... f***
jaysthebest Verified Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 It is one of the worst lineups I've seen this season.

He's more often than not acquired dudes in the midst of bad seasons at the plate. Stangstag and Jays24 1 1

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Well looks like we will need Max to pitch well today. Feels like its been awhile since we had a good start.
june.june Verified Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Both Davis and Miles are back in the line up. liking it, both are hustle guys. Varsho not and his high strike out rate this should be a win
Doubleplay21 Verified Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Varsho is a number 8 or 9 hitter, great defense, but you need to hit the ball to be a true major leaguer. Batting just over the Mendoza line is not for a pennant chasing team.

I don't recall ever suggesting the guy was perfect by any means, but some of the criticism he's faced is pretty over the top.

Your response to practically every criticism is "they know more than you" but i guess youre the judge and jury of what criticism is fair. And yes, there's going to be a lot of criticism for people in his position. Welcome to the reactionary world of professional sports. Anyways, I agree with your point lol.
Masterbather Verified Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Ty France must have dirt on somebody.
stonethecrow99 Verified Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 Best to turn things around quick and get back to the way they were playing coming out of the break. Jays seem to play down to their competition..white sox, A's, Royals, O's, etc..gotta beat up on the not so good teams

That response is generally saved for you specifically. You constantly call the team manager/general manager/data department a bunch of dumbasses/stupid/insert insult of choice so this leads to an easy retort about how you aren't necessarily smarter than the group of baseball professionals that actually runs the team. You tend to have a bunch of kneejerk overreactions and don't stop to take even a few seconds to ponder why certain moves are made before flying off the handle. The manager in particular has a treasure trove of data available at his fingertips, on top of information from the high performance department, a list of which relievers are available, first hand information from the players themselves how they are feeling that day/in that instant etc.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 I'm honestly curious as to who people think is the better CF defender between Straw/Varsho?

I can only guess that they looked at the solid underlying numbers for France (.340 xwOBA on the season) and thought that he was a candidate for positive regression. A huge part of why he's played in both of the first two games is due to both of Kirk and Springer being unavailable due to being on the injured list with concussions, but of course you wouldn't consider this.

When the team decides to get Vladdy off his feet and dh for the day who are you expecting to man 1b?
