I just dont see this front office making it happen.  Hoffman literally landed in our lap after 2 failed physicals for them to get that type of arm.  

I'm sure you know by now that there is far more context to Hoffman signing with the Blue Jays than a few failed physicals. The Braves and Orioles passed on signing him as a starter but were absolutely willing to sign his as a reliever.

And im sure you know he was offended when they tried to renegotiate his salary afterwards and came to the Jays afterwards.  Its part of why he said he had something to prove against those teams.  

Again, my point was that this front office doesnt have a big track record of investing heavily on the bullpen.  It doesnt mean that cant change but was just stating my 2 cents.

We still potentially have Varsho, Gimenez, Santander, Garcia, and Sandlin coming back which can be big impact players. Especially Santander he's a big wild card here for us.

At this time also hoping Manoah can come back and snag a bullpen role and be effective.

Historically, we've probably only seen maybe half of the deals that will be complete when all is said and done.

You can't factor extensions into trades unless they are agreed beforehand.

the only way bieber's not a rental is if he's REALLY bad. if he even pitches mediocre down the stretch he's going to free agency & some team is gonna offer him the jack flaherty contract (2 years, $45M with an opt-out) just on the upside alone. 

the berrios extension happened while berrios still had an extra year of control left. even if bieber really likes it here and wants to sign back during the offseason, it's going to be on the open market where he can drive his price tag up. expecting an extension before then is just naive
