jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 Nice to Springer get off to a good start. Hope he keeps this up and we can get a 3 WAR and a .800 OPS type season from him! Jays24 and Spanky99 2
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 The Blue Jays are over .500! When was the last time we could say that, like April 2024? Francis with a quality start. Gimenez continues to do his Barry Bonds impression. The bullpen holds on. Jim gets a Bobblehead for Brownies son. What's not to like? G-Snarls, Spanky99, Orgfiller and 8 others 8 3

BB17 Verified Member Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 Great win. Lineup was great and felt like they could had 8 runs, pitching was really solid. On to the next!

You could have bought tickets for like $5 on StubHub tonight before the game lol. I saw lots of people just go into get a bobblehead then turn right around and leave lol. Spanky99 and Stangstag 2
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 Gimenez rocking a 283 wRC+, ISO of 611 and an xwOBA higher than his actual wOBA 429 to 427 a BABIP of .250... no luck here, if anything he's been unlucky so far. Early on he's been straight fire out of the gate, love to see it. 💥🔥😎

Masterbather Verified Member Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 I was crazy busy, unfortunately I missed the whole game. Hard to tell from the box score how Bowden looked. Seemed like he was about a B minus effort? I'm not going to lose my s*** over Gimenez at this point. But if he could find enough of a stroke to be a poor man's Roberto Alomar, I wouldn't complain.

This has been a common issue for Francis since he transitioned to the rotation in the back half of last season. He eventually just runs out of gas, the fastball is noticeably slower and he gets shelled. That's fine in the modern game, just get us through 5 solid innings, maybe push a 6th if there's enough of a cushion in the scoreboard like last night. Probably means you'll always need to have the long man ready to follow him as TTO creeps up however. Spanky99 and max silver 2

All in all, I'll take an effort like that 100 out of 100 times from the guy who's supposed to be a 5th starter. Part of me keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop but, hasn't happened yet. Granted the Nationals are merely an appetizer.
