I wonder about Alonso. With so many teams making a run on first basemen, it feels like he might be left out in the cold a bit. Obviously, the Mets always have the money but so many teams shored up their first base for 2025 in like three days. The market has to be rather diminished on him, as half the league doesn't have any money to spend in the first place.

Jays lineup needs power anyway they could get it.

 

Would sign Alonso to a one-year pillow worth $25M or so and move Vladdy to 3B in a 60/40 split with Clement. The days Vladdy doesn't play 3B, move him to 1B and have Alonso DH, or have Vladdy DH while Alonso plays 1B. Keep the DH spot a revolving door for players to get rest like Springer, Vladdy, Alonso, Bo, etc.

 

Sign a bat like Teo or Santander for LF on top of that. Or as a Plan B, sign Profar.

 

Lineup doesn't look that bad after at all.

I have already decided I will be cheering for a new team (likely the Reds) if the Jays sign this douche canoe.

Alonso comes with a comp pick... most teams arent wasting that unless they get Alonso on a longer deal than 1 season. 

Mets/Red Sox/Yankees are gearing up to sign Vladdy next off-season so will be interesting to see how Alonso's market shapes out.  We definitely need his sort of power in our lineup but have 0 faith in our front office to make it happen.

The thing the Jays have going for them, is they never draft anyone good anyways so losing the comp pick isn't really that big of a deal.
