He was a solid LOOGY in 2005.

He's the second most tenured #60 in MLB history, wore it for all 12 years of his career. Dallas Keuchel has just appeared in his 13th season with his brief stint in Milwaukee, and has likewise worn #60 his whole career.

Wo, blast from the past. I remember him being really good for a stretch

58 days until Spring Training! #58 has been worn by nine different Blue Jays. The most tenured by far was Tim Mayza, I was a bit surprised to find out that he was around for eight seasons.

Blue Jays signed Juan Acevedo in 2003 after he was released by the Yankees and pitched for the Jays for about 1.5 months. When I was a kid, got an autographed ball from him which was cool.

#57 was also worn by both Gary Carter (1974) and Randy Johnson (1988) for their debut stints with the Expos.

In terms of stars with longevity in the number, Johan Santana wore #57 for twelve seasons. I recall watching Doc outduel Santana on Opening Day when both were at their peak. That was 2006, after the Jays huge off season where we acquired Burnett, Glaus, Molina, Overbay and BJ Ryan.

I was at that game. So much buzz and excitement for that Opening Day! Watching Doc battle Santana was awesome on Opening Day. Two of the best pitchers in baseball at the time.

Went to the Game 2 the following day, and Josh Towers got rocked, which was the start of his 2-10 season with an 8.42 ERA haha.

I remember when he was with the White Sox and squared off against Roy Halladay I think in 2006 or 2007. One of the shortest MLB games haha.

Loved how Buehrle was a quick worker and one of the most durable starters in the game. Sucks he retired early - probably could have pitched into his early 40's. What a memorable career!

I was at a matchup around that time, I was certainly there in a low scoring gem. IIRC... you get an extra long Wilner talk on the way home, lol.

55 days until Spring Training! #55 has been worn by ten Blue Jays over the years, the most prominent being Russell Martin

Turned out to be a fantastic signing by AA. Martin played a big role on both the 2015 and 2016 teams.

Hope Martin can make his way into the HoF at some point.

In hindsight, that was a bad trade by JPR when the Jays traded Jayson Werth after the 2003 season for Jason Frasor. Werth really only broke out in Philly though, but still should have given him a longer leash.

Regardless, Jason Frasor was a great BP arm and extremely reliable. He got better with age as well. Him and Scotty Downs were a great late-inning combo. Frasor did a lot in the community as well with the Jays Care Foundation and was a really nice guy. Only thing I disliked about him was he was extremely slow on the mound. He definitely wouldn't be a fan of the pitch clock haha.

Off-field issues aside, Roberto Osuna was dominant when he was the closer here and helped the team during their 2015 and 2016 runs. Can't believe he's still just 29-years-old as well. He could have carved out a really nice MLB career if not for the trouble he got himself into.
