Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Author Posted May 19, 2024 Get Romano up. We're into save territory. Thanks mr. Pop.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Of course this game turns into a butt clencher... this team doesn't know any better lol
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Lol had to waste their closer in this game
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Author Posted May 19, 2024 My gdt win percentage keeps climbing. I should be on the Jays payroll.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 We need Chad Green back bad. Soon, bro.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Congratulations to Manoah on the win and to Chris Farley for his first home run as a jay
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Manoah with another gem is a huge development. We will need to stack up some wins to make up ground and it would be hard to do with a gaping hole in the #5 spot. If he's actually back we might be able to put together some big streaks to get back in it.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Author Posted May 19, 2024 Congratulations to Manoah on the win and to Chris Farley for his first home run as a jay Great game considering the guy lives in van down by the river.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Classy talk from Vogelbach. He just took the bath he knew he had coming, and spoke very humbly
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Soon, bro. Francis and Yariel too. Bullpen should get a much needed reshuffle soon.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Author Posted May 19, 2024 Should have won this series. Yesterday was a gut punch. Maybe we make some hay while the sun shines the next few series. Let see what happens.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Very glad the FO didn’t do something silly and trade Manoah off for nothing. Good to see him shove.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Getting back to 500 would be nice We’ve seen plenty of teams be .500 at the deadline and go on a tear to make a deep postseason run. That could definitely still happen for the Jays, but it’s very difficult to imagine that happening based off the way these guys have looked in 2023/24
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Very glad the FO didn’t do something silly and trade Manoah off for nothing. Good to see him shove. Good point. They seemingly took a lot of s*** from fans on the relationship with Manoah and how they handled everything, but maybe they did good?

It doesn't look good, but s*** can change in a hurry. Edited May 20, 2024 by Spanky99

Sorrow Verified Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Im hoping we see more Danny Burgers against righties and keep Turner for LHP and pinch hitting until the bat comes around if it does.

Would rather do that than guarantee Turner daily at bats. But Really Jansen should be DH over both right now.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Just checking again - was Manoah's stuff+ the same this game as it's been all year? Is it just the command that's been better?
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Just checking again - was Manoah's stuff+ the same this game as it's been all year? Is it just the command that's been better? Yeah still bad Location+ was very good though
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Yeah still bad Location+ was very good though That lines up with the starts where Alek was effective last season as his stuff+ numbers were terrible even in the good starts.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Yeah still bad Location+ was very good though Blah - so he isn't back or fixed. He's probably just getting lucky right now. The stuff "looks" better, but hard to compare since it's been so long since we've seen his A+ slider. Thanks - where do you find that info? I'll bookmark it.

His slider graded a lot better and he’s mixing in a 4th pitch in the changeup which gives him a fighting chance against lefties. If he’s releasing each pitch from the same spot and locating a kitchen sink that could play, even if the stuff isn’t great. Does anyone know how his stuff now compares to his stuff in 2022?

You have to go to the pitcher leaderboard on fangraphs then toggle to Blue Jays and pitch modeling and stuff+ One possibility is that his changeup is actually good and stuff+ misses it. It has issues with change ups Visually the slider has more depth now
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Author Posted May 20, 2024 Yeah, so watching the game I get the opposite of what the numbers are saying. His slider looked the best I've seen from him, maybe ever. His use of the changeup was great, using it in counts where he would avoid it. Stuff looked good. His location was hit and miss. He only had one walk but got favourable calls and hit a couple of batters. I'm skeptical on the data if it says his stuff wasn't good and his location was. Something is wrong here.
