Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 The Blue Jays are averaging 3.61 runs while their pitching is giving up 4.72 runs per game. The offense is ranked 29th in the league while the pitching is ranked 20th. They are only battling .227 as a team which is 25th in the league. Getting the start for the Blue Jays will be Alek Manoah who sits with an 0-1 record and an ERA of 4.91.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 they really trying hard to get vogel going but Jansen should be in there instead (unless he asked for a day off)
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 I'm convinced that this team doesn't like Jansen. Batting him 7th, sitting him when he can DH over friggin Vogelbach and not even hearing a word about an extension. He's only been our one of our BEST hitters for the past few years when he's healthy...
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Prediction: if they lose today Schneider is fired before tomorrow's game
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Prediction: if they lose today Schneider is fired before tomorrow's game That would be crazy, 4 field managers in 8 seasons
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 When do the people responsible for putting this team together, including hiring the manager, get held accountable? Or do we give Shatkins another 9 years to possibly produce a single playoff win...

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Author Posted May 19, 2024 Prediction: if they lose today Schneider is fired before tomorrow's game Nah, he just gave him the vote of confidence yesterday. To follow that up with a firing would be really slimy.
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Nah, he just gave him the vote of confidence yesterday. To follow that up with a firing would be really slimy. Atkins is comfortable with slimy. Dude completely threw Schneider under the bus with the Berrios debacle last year.
PitaBaby Verified Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Atkins is comfortable with slimy. Dude completely threw Schneider under the bus with the Berrios debacle last year. Absolutely. That was REALLY dirty. At least we know his true character.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Prediction: if they lose today Schneider is fired before tomorrow's game I don’t know why they haven’t tried sacrificing a hitting coach at a minimum. Just to change things up.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 I think Shapiro will get an opportunity to stay and replace Atkins, if he wants to Totally cool with that but the longer he waits, the less patient the fanbase will be with that too.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Not sure why anyone here thinks there is some Chinese wall between Shapiro and Atkins on the baseball side. Shapiro is a better politician and salesman, but they are one and the same as far as baseball operations.

Could see things working fine if Shapiro brings in a new head of baseball ops from a quality org and continues to do whatever it is he does to convince Rogers to continue spending to the luxury tax and making investments like the development complex.
harvey16 Verified Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 That ball never hit the batter, why didn't Jays challenge that?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Whine Day Thread? Cool beans. Alek Manoah looks alright so far...

They have interviewed multiple former baseball Presidents who came from the baseball side (a la Shapiro vs Beeston). They across the board unequivocally said the President is involved in player/personnel decisions. How could he not after being a GM for so many years. He has not even made an effort to separate himself in interviews. Andrew Friedman in not the GM of the Dodgers. You don't think he is involved in baseball player/personnel decisions?

Yeah, I suspect Shapiro is a control freak.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Finally... Danny Boy! The Jays changed the process to involve free hamburgers and ice cream for every home run hit. Danny responded! @trust the process.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Oh God... stfu Manoah. Youre pitching great but you shouldn't want any smoke after being useless for 1.5 years.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Is manoah yelling at players after he strikes them out again?

AA left partially because he thought Shapiro would be too hands on. I think you are right to point out that Shapiro is probably involved but Ross is definitely the main guy making the decisions. Regardless, I'm not even sure it matters. If Shapiro isn't involving himself in the day-to-day that's a conscious decision to delegate on his part and he should be judged all the same. Perhaps he should be more hands on.
