I have mentioned before how major league teams should really considered the idea of forfeiting games instead of killing their bullpen or risking injury to position players because this is just stupid and actively hurts our ability to win future games. Traditionalists get really angry at that idea though. I would do it until MLB stopped me.

lol... you're a tool.

Well we do it for rain shortening games, it's only cuz people aren't used to it. They do it at the world baseball classic precisely to protect players. People only have a visceral response to it because they're not used to seeing it but if it became commonplace nobody would care anymore. The logic is completely sound, why are you risking injuries and hurting your future ability to win in a game that is 99.9% decided?

This is one of the most embarrassing things I have ever seen

Like he was in AAA all this time and you couldn't have him take balls at LF? If we were rebuilding then fine but it's a joke to do this now

He's an infielder transitioning to the OF, it happens, he should've had reps in LF for sure, I don't get why they didn't just switch him to RF though, he has the arm++ for it.

It's not that easy playing a position for the 1st time - any position requires alot of reps before one can be considered a starter

You don't move a regular for a guy you have no clue will be playing regularly. It's the teams job to get him reps at the spot he has a chance to play in the majors. Common sense tbh

Nope, completely sound and it's been proven that it can work in baseball already. Fans wouldn't revolt just like they already don't revolt when games are shortened for inclement weather or at the baseball classic.

The visceral response is purely based on the fact that people aren't used to it.

Probably need a more clever team than ours to start the trend though, like Tampa.

Springer plays everyday so you don't move him.

Barger is a call up with a remote chance of becoming a regular thus it's on him to fit onto the team, not Springers.

In conclusion, you get reps for Barger at every potential spot he may play at the Majors in AAA.

Atkins has a big white board in his office. It says on there that Barger is blocked from playing an infield position until at least 2026 based on the current depth chart. So....f*** it put him in the outfield until KK comes back. It's all transitory.

I said that, and why can't a former CF move to LF, Barger's an IF and was getting reps in RF. Seems simple to me.

Shows the little faith they have in Barger actually sticking so they didn't want to inconvenience Springer it seems. I agree that your idea seems the most logical.

No, it shows they're dumn and Barger was kicking the door in, he's here and playing for a reason. Plenty of faith has been shown.
