Omar Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Only for tonight. I’d imagine if there’s a righty on the mound tomorrow, it will be back to the KK/Varsho outfield with Schneider on the bench. But Varsho as a 4th OF is probably a reasonable way to use him at this point. Not good for optics though. yeah, that's what I was referring to.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Really nice win That one felt good
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Varsho reduced to a late inning pinch runner? He'll start against righties Tough matchup for him against Castillo so I'm glad they had the guts to sit him
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Eighth inning, home opener in what was a 3 run game and the TD seats are half empty. I don't believe in going to a ball game and leaving early... There was a Leafs game at the Scotia Arena as well. Some people might live outside of the city, need to catch a GO Train and yes sometimes might have to leave early to beat the crowds, especially when the Dome was sold out. I don't think they missed much.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Yep, I guess those are the "boujee" fans who cannot fathom losing a few minutes of their precious time because of traffic/transit delays after the game lol I sometimes leave the game early if the Jays are up big or down big. If it is a close game different story. As well, it depends if its a weeknight game where I have to work the next day and catch a GO train or if its a weekend game where I plan on staying in the downtown core for a couple of hours after the game.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Was nice to see consistent good PAs against Castillo. Only hitter who looked bad was Springer. I think he's feeling too much pressure. Berrios is good

This makes sense, I was referring to the empty seats in the TD section behind homeplate; a whole batch of empty seats in that section was no coincidence and hinted at the "type" of fans that were seated there.

I wonder if there is a club level they are entitled to retreat to. I think those tickets come with lots of perks now. Service and stuff. They are all sold to corporate season ticket holders.

Is it worth saving maybe 30 minutes in travel time to potentially miss something awesome? You already paid for the seats and spent the time getting there, might as well stay?

Laika Community Moderator Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Is it worth saving maybe 30 minutes in travel time to potentially miss something awesome? You already paid for the seats and spent the time getting there, might as well stay? Yeah most attendees in those zones use the seats for corporate networking. It's sad as a fan but they often don't care much about the game. Same thing happens in Yankee Stadium and has been for years, you will see a lot of the good seats empty at certain points of certain games. The team is maximizing revenue though. They jack the prices and still sell all the tickets so.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 No Varsho in the lineup is such a W. Like we lost that trade. I’m over that. I don’t care about that part anymore. But running Varsho out there everyday just compounds the situation. Utilize him defensively and base running wise as much as possible but Scheneider and Clement should be playing over him most nights. Just to note, but Moreno is hitting .161 with a 55 wRC+ and 0 WAR on the year. Maybe everyone lost that trade
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Meatball on 3 and 1 biggio just takes it. I don’t get Biggio sometimes Biggio is off to a great start this year.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 Man Biggio's defense is improving as much as his hitting. I haven't heard from the "He's only here because of his last name" crowd in a long while. um....someone literally asked this question like 2 days ago.

I don't believe in going to a ball game and leaving early... Geddy Lee took off around that time too! Those new seats are massive. It kinda looks weird seeing them empty during the game.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 9, 2024 Posted April 9, 2024 How much are those seats? Have to get a couple some day.

It's all the suits. Like the Platinums at Leafs games.

You already paid for the seats and spent the time getting there, might as well stay? I said if the Jays are up big or down big. I don't care if I miss a HR from Vladdy or Bo when the team is up 7-8 runs or down 7-8 runs or a triple play. Especially if it's just regular season. Postseason different story. Even if the Jays are down by 3 or 4, I'll stay to the end.
