glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 IKF sucks. Time for Ernie Clement I can’t comprehend how a team with playoff aspirations and who otherwise has been pretty good at finding value with short term vets thought IKF starting at 3B was a good idea. Dude is a career 80 wRC+ player. Clement, Barger, anyone would be more logical in that spot. Hopefully we see Clement there tomorrow.

I hope Ernie plays tomorrow and I would bring Barger up first time they need an infielder

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 Bo Bichette had some big boy thing to say this spring Wet fart start to his season It's one game. If he's going to have 2 errors it may as well both be in one game in a game where we lose 8 to 2. I thought the 2nd error was harsh, because the throw wasn't that bad and most times Vladdy should have picked it. On to the next.

But they don't lose 8-2 if he's a decent SS Bassitt gets our of the inning clean and then who knows

How does Bassitt get out of the inning clean? He was always giving up at least 2. We gave up another in the 5th. Sure without Bo's miscues we lose by a couple runs, not 6. Who knows is an optimistic take on things.

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 But he's pitching to Lowe completely differently with bases open Anyway, Bo blew the game that's the point He didn't blow the game on that single play. Tampa had 10 hits, 1 homer, 1 double and 3 walks. We had 6 hits, 1 homer, 1 double and 1 walk. The error did not help, but Tampa deserved the win. The point is, you need to learn more about baseball if you think that single play cost the Jays the game.

Yes, let's ignore the walk and the hit batter and the fact that Bassitt was struggling with his command and assume he would have struck out Lowe and not have given up a hit. That's not how baseball works either. He gave up a homer on a 1 and 1 count. Let me guess, the run he gave up in the 5th was due to pressure he had protecting a 3 run lead. We didn't put up zero's on offense inning after inning because of a Bo bichette error. When you don't score your chances are limited.

Laika Community Moderator Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 If the Jays could get a split down at the Trop, I'll be happy. .500 after this road trip would be just fine
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 If the Jays could get a split down at the Trop, I'll be happy. I'd take a 500 split for this road trip, anything better is graaavy.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 If the Jays could get a split down at the Trop, I'll be happy. Exactly this. Plus missing our Ace for the series and 2 important arms in the pen. A split is fine
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 Tiebreakers are very important in the current playoff format. So if the Jays can go 5-5 during this road trip (which I agree would be fine), then ideally it would be 2-2 against Tampa and 2-1 against the Yankees. Also, the stadium renovations better be done this season and 2025 better start at home.

But I think the would be much smaller in scale so likely wouldn’t need to start on the road.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2024 Posted March 30, 2024 Clement starting at 3B today. Hopefully he goes 4-4 and it becomes harder to bench him for IKF.
