Last year you played, your team finished 11th out of 20. That also comes with the asterisk of you managing 2 teams at once, and swapping players between both rosters when it was convenient. Blatant cheating.

 

This year, the guy that took over your roster ended up finishing 18th. Not saying you would have finished that low but you’re not blocking anyone from winning with that roster.

Why is it a joke?

 

He was worth -0.7 WAR last season, and -0.5 WAR this season. They kept him on their MLB roster (with all the benefits that goes along with that) for nearly a full season and allowed him to keep getting MLB PA's, which is essentially a gift in and of itself for a guy who is trying to extended his career. There are hundreds of guys in AAA who don't get that opportunity - they are up for 2-3 games and sent back down a week later.

 

They could have cut him MONTHS ago and made him ride the bus in AAA for some other team. He received his bonus already: its called being on an MLB roster for a full season and gifted 400+ AB's despite the fact that he is a 1B who can't hit, can't field, and can't run.

Meh. Cleveland was into their *4TH* pitcher of the game. Who GAF. It's not like he's trying to rob one guy of an historical moment.

 

To me a "combined" perfect game with 7 pitchers used means about one millionth what a single pitcher's perfect game means

I like Varsho and have stated numerous times he's an easy player to root for. Have nothing against him whatsoever. Even as a 3.5 WAR centre fielder who is a defensive wizard with the glove and with some occasional pop, will take that from him.

 

Reality is, the trade wasn't a dunk by Atkins as it was made out to be last season and even in the early part of this season. Two years in a row with a 88 and 99 wRC+ and sub .300 OBP's from Varsho isn't that encouraging. Varsho is going to be 28, yet he still has untapped potential and could get better, though a 24-year-old Moreno doesn't? No different than Kevin Pillar's 2015 season.

 

Hope the Jays could win the trade, but not looking that way, unless Moreno has a serious injury and misses significant time for one or two years. Overall, wish the Jays could have used Moreno in a package for a better player, but it is what it is.

nothing has really changed either other than things that have nothing to do with the players (if the Jays could go back in time they would not do the trade, simply because they didn't win in 2023 or 2024 and now they would prefer Moreno and his remaining years of control)

 

Literally nobody on here ever said this trade was a slam dunk win for the Blue Jays. There's no need to make s*** up like this to support your argument in bad faith. The Diamondbacks always had a very good shot to come ahead in overall WAR value due to the extra years of control, but the Blue Jays received the best player at the time of trade, and after a tough 2023 season at the plate for Varsho he's returned to once again being the best player involved in the trade in 2024. Just as the much maligned GM stated after the 2023 it's far too early to judge a trade of long term assets after a single season, this trade is looking to be a win/win type of trade for both sides as each club received a player that directly filled one of their needs.

 

I don't know why you keep saying Varsho is like 2015 Kevin Pillar and acting like that's some sort of slight against him. That version of Kevin Pillar was a really valuable contributor to his team, but that version of him only showed up once in his career. Varsho has produced wins at a similar rate in 3 of his 4 seasons as a major league regular and returned to this type of production in the 2024 season.

MLB messed up. Both teams had an off-day Monday and could have bumped up the series knowing a hurricane was going to hit this week. As well, they could have maybe squeezed in Game 3 on Wednesday with a noon start time if they had to. Sucks for the Mets and Braves to have to play on the Monday but oh well.

 

As well, I know its last minute but couldn't they find a neutral ballpark somewhere on the east coast where both teams could have played let's say yesterday and today?
