He does somewhat resemble Dane Dehaan as the goblin in Spiderman

I’m not judging if he did, as I’d be doing that. Close to your dream and about to come up short and go start somewhere as a desk jockey for $70k. Give me the juice. “I’ll swallow all steroids”, as the illustrious Ryan Garcia said recently

Who the hell is starting an office job at 70k with 0 experience?

But yeah agreed, if things weren’t working out and my baseball career was on its last legs I would probably resort to PEDs

Meh. They probably have contacts for dudes that don’t work out but have an education. There’s probably some companies that “play ball” like that. I’m dropping dad level puns now

I’m confused how you looked at his minor league stats and came to the conclusion he started juicing. All he’s done is mash in the minors

His first year in 2021 at 22yo he doesn’t really make any impression in short season ball as a late 12th round pick, hitting .210. Off season must not have been impressive with the org because he’s a little better at 23yo in short season ball, but not enough where they promote him to full season High A. So at 24yo and you haven’t even played High A, I feel some might see that as your window closing, especially as a 12th rounder.

I’m mostly being playful and of course by no means as I saying any of that should count as evidence, but it’s a real world predicament for some you can kind of understand.

Short season ball ended in 2020.

watching the Rice 3 homer highlights....hopefully for them he doesn't turn into Greg Bird.

MLB pitchers will figure him out soon enough, the question is whether Rice can adjust

yes as with many hitters, what's interesting is : 0.89 bb/k (very small sample size). That is Freeman territory

He actually looks/seems extremely similar to Greg Bird, good call

Volpe's bat has gone into a real tailspin. 95 wRC+ on the season now. Semien too.....88 wRC+

Damn. Volpe’s first couple months was probably a mirage, but Semien should be ok. He’s had extended slumps like this before. Maybe age is catching up.

I remember listening to Yankee broadcasters praising him earlier this season for his new approach of slapping the ball to right field. That hasn't aged well.

This was from last week and I was meaning to post. If you haven't seen it, it is worth a look. Pillar still doing it ten years later.

That was a nice grab.

Volpe is still just 23. Wouldn't write him off as a productive bat just yet.

When is the MLB 2024 Draft Thread happening? I’m like Mel f***ing Kiper now.

I don’t want it to go to waste

No one tell him he can't see it because he has me blocked, I've been starting way more threads since then

There is a history of 2nd basemen falling off a cliff around Age 32. Not saying Semien is done, but there is a chance that age is catching up.

Apparently. Odd to see the Dodgers unable to develop that huge arm correctly.

Same as Walker Buehler, although I think he was a sticky stuff user

Ouch, he's been awful too. He's had a lot of injuries to battle through as well, which may be catching up to him.

Dodgers and Astros definitely seem like orgs that were pushing the sticky HARD.
