Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Are the incels still crying martyr about some dickbag who had an ERA over 4 in 7 different MLB seasons?
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Are the incels still crying martyr about some dickbag who had an ERA over 4 in 7 different MLB seasons? Let's not pretend it's performance related issues preventing Bauer from being signed by major league teams.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Let's not pretend it's performance related issues preventing Bauer from being signed by major league teams. I dunno, he seems to have some performance issues inside his noggin.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Let's not pretend it's performance related issues preventing Bauer from being signed by major league teams. Let’s not pretend the fact that he’s a massive f***ing douchebag has nothing to do with him being unsigned either
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Let’s not pretend the fact that he’s a massive f***ing douchebag has nothing to do with him being unsigned either That's exactly my point that his character flaws are largely behind his lack of an MLB job. It's a fake equivalency to point to his higher ERA numbers before he emerged as a top of the rotation pitcher later in his career and pretend like that has anything to do with why he's been effectively blacklisted by MLB.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Are the incels still crying martyr about some dickbag who had an ERA over 4 in 7 different MLB seasons? Butty you don’t even post here anymore except when you’re triggered by a Bauer post
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Let’s not pretend the fact that he’s a massive f***ing douchebag has nothing to do with him being unsigned either There are bigger dbags with jobs, guaranteed
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 There are bigger dbags with jobs, guaranteed Chapman has had no issues getting jobs lol.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2024 Posted February 18, 2024 Chapman has had no issues getting jobs lol. Shhhh I’m sure he’s an awesome guy lol
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 This is wild. Guy is getting copyright claims on short clips he filmed in person at a game
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Liam Hendriks to Boston Hope he can have a successful return to the mound. He's been through a lot these last couple of years. One of the most dominant relievers in the game when he was healthy.
deanmike Verified Member Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Reading between the lines here, seems like Trout is basically demanding the Angels pay up for at least 1 of the Boras 4 (they are the top 4 FAs remaining by projected fWAR, #5 drops off to Ryu IIRC) or he's gonna want out.

Why do you target if you're Minasian? Snell seems like the best fit to me

deanmike Verified Member Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Why do you target if you're Minasian? Snell seems like the best fit to me I think they could easily fit any of the 4 into their lineup. Chapman might seem like the worst fit for them at 3B, but there's no way Rendon stays healthy.
BTS Community Moderator Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Woodruff back to Milwaukee on a 2-year deal. Good for them.
deanmike Verified Member Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Feinsand saying Snell market down to Yankees, Angels or Giants
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 What does a Trout trade even look like 32.5 years old 4 WAR per 600 PA projected but injury issues 7 years, $260M left on the contract He probably is not worth that deal, not even close, but there is some chance he could have a couple more MVP seasons so he's definitely not your normal 32 year old star player... As a fan, I'd be fine with my team just taking him and the entire contract. You just pray for the best and take pride that your team saved him from being a career Angel.

It's hard to believe that Mike F'ning Trout would essentially come for free in a trade, but that contract is scary. I wonder which teams he'd waive his no-trade for.
wamco Verified Member Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 But that wouldn’t be a deal that the angels would prob entertain unless clearing salary was number one priority. Would be a PR nightmare if happened today.

Would be a PR nightmare if happened today. I suspect they'd find a far better deal than that somewhere in the league... but I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Baseball is a business and not a simulation. You can’t spit out projected WAR to determine the what Trout is worth. If there’s a tv deal anywhere near the horizon, I bet you Trout for prospects loses you $260m
wamco Verified Member Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 And my post was deleted rather than edited. I had to fix the numbers. Hit from trading springer to angels for trout would increase jays payroll (not aav) like 6m the first three years and then 30m the next 3’years
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Yeah from a PR perspective not just for the Angels but even the MLB, trading Trout strictly as a salary dump and receiving nothing of value looks pretty bad for optics. He's still considered a star player and one of the faces of baseball, even if he's aging and has been injury prone the last couple of years. As long as he's healthy, Trout should still be good for a couple of MVP-esque type seasons with the bat. He's definitely capable of coming close to his 2022 numbers again offensively.

Yeah they just lost Ohtani, can’t ever be competitive. Their big names like Rendon have sucked. Besides just their tv deal, I could see franchise value losing a couple hundred million easy peasy if no Trout. 15% stock drop (metaphor) on the news of the dump. Never to recover
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Feinsand saying Snell market down to Yankees, Angels or Giants Really hope he doesn't go to the Yankees. Don't want the AL East getting stronger man.

Apparently you didn’t see IKF’s updated WAR projections now that’s penciled it at 3b. Yankees can sign Snell all they want, we’ll be fine.
