Yeah, Burnes is a one year commitment, and they used expendable prospect depth to get him. Trade probably would have happened even if they didn't sell the team. If they sign Snell, then that's a different story.

That's why I added the "great young foundation" part. This is what separates good teams like the Dodgers/Astros and the teams you mentioned including the Mets.

“Playoffs are all luck/crapshoot” and they got there. Some good seasons in return they got. Not a lot of gut punches there. A few decent pieces, but again, not like it was for nothing. You’d have to do a list of everything coming back to grade it obviously.

 

My take on the GM is more about some of the contracts. Hosmer in particular was just an all time bad before ink dried. So not defending him, but not sure his trade history would be much more than a wash

Abrams played 80 games in the minors as a high school draftee. Should have been in AA last year but had 65 homers and steals in the majors...
