connorp Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 Their last 3 first round picks: 1) Extreme risk HS SS with massive tools. 2) High risk HS LHP with big stuff. 3) College RHP coming off TJ surgery and a Top 10 grade pre-injury. Literally no "safe" picks among those three. Fair enough, I just happened a couple weeks ago to look at their last 20 years worth of 1sts and they all were garbage. I didn’t have much recency bias. You’re not wrong though
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 And there goes Wetherholt... 7 picks in and all top 7 ranked from mlb.com have been taken.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 A Florida Gators is always a good bet.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 Bazzana must be the first Aussie to go 1-1 right?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 And there goes Wetherholt... 7 picks in and all top 7 ranked from mlb.com have been taken. Collusion!!
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 Bazzana must be the first Aussie to go 1-1 right? Yeah i’d think so
John Balkabella Verified Member Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 Why do they bring Harold Reynolds back year after year? He brings nothing.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 #12 ranked Christian Moore to the Angels.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 Why do they bring Harold Reynolds back year after year? He brings nothing. He makes it fun. Was good during the 2015 ALDS.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 I love the Griffin pick for Pittsburgh.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 19 year old high schooler lol there's multiple 17 year old HS in the draft too.
The_DH Verified Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Is the draft on tv, and if so which channel?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Is the draft on tv, and if so which channel? probably the mlb network. but you can follow it online https://www.mlb.com/draft/2024
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 I wonder who the first team to go way off board will be .... Tampa?
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Is the draft on tv, and if so which channel? MLBN and MLBTV
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 I wonder who the first team to go way off board will be .... Tampa? Oakland pretty much did
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Oakland pretty much did Taking a 7th ranked guy at 4 isnt way off board. I mean like... taking some guy from the 2nd or 3rd round ranks with their 1st pick. Edit... Seattle almost went there.. taking 25 rank at 15.
The_DH Verified Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 probably the mlb network. but you can follow it online https://www.mlb.com/draft/2024 got it. thanks much!

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Miami wins the off-board pick award.... taking 43 ranked guy at 16
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Id take the SEA guy over Kurtz Switch pitchers are fun yeah, but ... most reports ive read have him far better throwing RH than LH.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Brewers go even further off board... than Miami. Wow. But with the comp picks they have coming their way, this is almost certainly an underslot savings pick.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Miami wins the off-board pick award.... taking 43 ranked guy at 16 Brewers: "Hold my beer."
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Brewers: "Hold my beer." no doubt. Those 2 additional picks in the top 70 give them a big edge in taking some overslot guys later on if they can save some money in round 1. At least Baltimore has 0 competitive balance picks this year, just the bonus pick for Gunnar winning ROY
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Switch pitchers are fun yeah, but ... most reports ive read have him far better throwing RH than LH. In terms of long term outlook yeah he will be a RHP mostly
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Yesavage or Caminiti there for the Jays....Hopefully they take Caminiti
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 lots of top talent still available for the Jays pick at 20 thanks to all these obvious savings picks happening right now
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Yesavage or Caminiti there for the Jays....Hopefully they take Caminiti Would love Caminiti at 20, not gonna lie, but who the hell knows what his LSU commit would cost to get him to pass up.
