John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 The ST lineup I've seen seems to be George, Vlad, Bo in that order pretty consistently. That's not going to be regular order, right? Maybe just testing to see if it affects their approaches for the better or something, i dunno. Maybe they wont the two higher OBP guys together so Bo and his more aggressive style might be able to take advantage with guys on base more
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Just in what happened in today's game, Vlad is on 1st and Bo hits a single. Vlad stops at 2nd. If the order was reversed, Bo is likely standing at 3B. Ya there's drawbacks to that. I think if we had a bigger cleanup bat then we wouldn't even bother to mess around here. I'll just choose to believe Vlad gets better pitches to hit with Bo behind him.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Varsho continuing to steal those bases... great to see!
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Nice to hear the Yariel is ahead of where they thought he'd be.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Varsho got a great jump there off Maeda, pop-up slide though smh
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Varsho got a great jump there off Maeda, pop-up slide though smh Ya, that's gonna be an issue. I think he could have been out if the fielder didn't drop the ball. I want someone to ask him why he's so against head first slides.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Another defense miscue, Springer thought he was out of room and had another 2 steps. Should have had that ball.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 We got 3 more hits than Detroit but 4 less runs. Chicks dig the long ball for a reason lol.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 THat's it, get all the bad throws and bad reads out of the way now before it matters.

I want someone to ask him why he's so against head first slides. I googled checking for a concussion history, nothing. Most likely, he is just not comfortable doing it.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Bad Kikuchi this year? It's only ST but he was giving up a lot of hard contact even last season when he was good, so given his pre-2023 track record, it's hard to get too confident about what to expect from him. But too early to get worried at this point. Hopefully KK is okay, but the lack of OF depth is going to be very apparent if he has to miss time. I guess Schneider would be the starting LF in that scenario, with Lukes as the backup.

I guess the weird silver lining of it being KK that gets hurt is CF defense doesnt suffer, and the likely replacement for Varsho in LF wont hurt the offense either.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Vlad is pulling out early right now.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Vlads 3 EV's today: 67.7, 74.5, 74.9. All hits. LOL
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Attaboy Turner. THat's what we need all year
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Turner continues to pound the crap out of the ball.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Do we know if Votto will play today?
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Lets see how Pearson's splitter looks today
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Dillon Dingler. Outstanding baseball name.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Looks like Vladdy worked on his English in the offseason too!
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 wow fantastic interview with Vlady, English is pretty good
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 when is Pearson going to work on his splitter
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Vladdy doing an interview without an interpreter... now we know how he won his arbitration case lol #BetterCommunicationSkillz
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Nice stretch by Vlad at 1B. Maybe skinny Vlad means average or better D edit - oh wait, that's not Vlad lol
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 when is Pearson going to work on his splitter Good question. He only threw 1.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 Good question. He only threw 1. the second outing that I watched this spring - in both he only threw 1 splitter; haven't checked the rest of his outings
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 What the hell....both baserunners tagged up on that foul out? well done
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 What the hell....both baserunners tagged up on that foul out? well done Ya I was shocked to see that level of baserunning but then realized it didn't involve any of our regulars so thats probably why lol.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2024 Posted March 23, 2024 I'm glad I stuck around for the Little-Dingler faceoff.
