G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Never in doubt Not the best feeling win ever that's for sure LOL But a win is a win. Ugly or not.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 That could happen to anyone. Pitchers are athletes and run and shag fly balls in the Outfield pretty commonly. I'm willing to out bet every pitcher on our staff could run better than Kirk. You would think, but one of the key reasons the NL went to the DH was Multi million dollar pitchers getting injured on the base paths... I stated before the inning WTF are they going to do..?? I was trying to go through the list of pitchers....No win situation.
Jays333 Verified Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Well that was a miracle. Cubs up the Yanks as well, could go into the break a full game up on them. Still a massive underperformance overall for the first 90 games. FFS the Yanks are missing Judge and the Astros are missing Alvarez. Ah well, heres to going on a second half heater and salvaging this season. Im slightly optimistic.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Kind of hoping Detroit would win . They haven't won a home series in awhile.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Think people are annoyed that Varsho's best hitting ability to being a productive out. We just want more from a guy that we traded an "allstar" and our best prospect for. I get it. However, in that particular situation, Varsho did his job and then the dude writes YOU SUCK!!! Fnn Bo was K,K,K and Varsho needed to move the runner over and he did, if anyone other than Kirk.. Then, he is one of the only base runners on the team who would score from 1st and make it look so easy.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 This is a playoff calibre team ? They better be sellers not buyers at the trade deadline cause they’re no where close to competing. Ban
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Im almost glad Kirk got thrown out on the bases before Lukes’ double. Not sure he would have scored from 2nd there lol. Dude has to be the worst base runner in the majors
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Varsho did the job there. Would you prefer he just drive in the run yes. But at the bare minimum your goal is to pull the ball and make sure you get the runner over. The fact that Kirk got thrown out in that situation is humiliating. The ball was hit and thrown across the diamond before you can advance second to third is embarrassing. That's a weight issue that needs to be addressed. He is morbidly obese and performing as professional athlete. It's a problem.

He’s turned into mostly a singles hitter and his base running is absolute dogshit. Terrible combo.

Dude has to be the worst base runner in the majors We have seen it happen earlier in the season when Kirk was hitting ahead of Varsho. Varhso hit a double and he had to hold up because Kirk was going station to station... Kirk is a like a square bowling ball..

He said that Kirk is a better baserunner than Moreno because advanced analytics showed him that loll

Halloweenjack Verified Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Of all the comms teams. Detroit are without doubt the most biased and bitter. They commented on it being Detroits biggest crowd over 3 games ( over 90,000) for a few years, clearly this was due to the large number of Blue Jay fans in the crowd and whilst they acknowledged it, they seemed to me to do it begrudgingly. When I was in Toronto in April I went to one of the games against Detroit ( lost 3-1) and there was barely anyone in the crowd from Detroit.
Halloweenjack Verified Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I’ve got to ask this, but why was Kirk put on 2nd base in the 10th innings? What is the logic behind that?

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Baseball the only sport where pro athletes are allowed to be obese with no consequences Right, because it's not like there's another very popular pro sport where a prerequisite for some positions is to be extremely large...

Dude has to be the worst base runner in the majors He should be sent down to the complex in Dunedin. Manoah looks like he shed some weight and is in much better shape. It could do wonders for him. I would rather have Heineman catching than Kirk right now.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 I’ve got to ask this, but why was Kirk put on 2nd base in the 10th innings? What is the logic behind that? The new rule since COVID, is that each team will start with a runner on 2b in extra innings. The runner is determined by who made the last out for each team in the previous inning. So, Kirk made the last out for the Jays in the 9th, he had to go to 2b. 99% of the time you would pinch run for him. The Jays had already used everyone on their bench except Brandon Belt. He is also pretty slow but might also have some injury concerns. In addition, if you PR for Kirk then you lose your DH. Jansen was DHng. So Jansen would go to catcher and we would have to use a pitcher to hit if the game was still tied. In the past we had some pitchers who were more athletic.. However, the most likely option was Kikuchi and he is a SP and was not warmed up... To have an SP with our lack of depth get hurt on the base paths would be a huge hit to the long term team prospects. So, I guess the coaching staff made the decision to stick with Kirk was the least worst option.

Jays333 Verified Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Right, because it's not like there's another very popular pro sport where a prerequisite for some positions is to be extremely large... Offensive and defensive lineman are insane athletes for their size. In crazy good shape. Nfl training camp is a grueling test of endurance and the physicals you have to pass are intense. Absolutely no comparison to Kirks fat ass.
Halloweenjack Verified Member Posted July 9, 2023 Posted July 9, 2023 Darts is barely a sport It is technically classed as one. One of the games greatest players was Canadian ( John Part ) Out of interest how well known is John Part in Canada?

If you weigh 350 lbs, there's no possible way you're in good shape unless you're like 7 ft tall and look like a prime Arnold Schwarzenegger. Kirk is definitely overweight, but he doesn't appear to be gassed after running the bases or squatting behind the plate during a long inning. He's just slow as hell. Losing some weight would help a little, but he's never going to be an average runner even he was like 180 lbs.

Kirk being slow probably has as much to do with his legs being 1 foot long as with his weight. Dude is just built like a bowling ball

No he's never going to be an average runner and he has little legs because how short he is. But the load it would take off his body and the fludity he would get in his body would definitely improve his performance running where he could be less of base clogger. Without question being lighter improves your bodies mechanics. Its why you see a lot of NBA players especially big man trim down later in their career. LeBron is playing at his lightest weight since he was a teenager. Dwight Howard is another example. Look how lean he was with the Lakers compared to where he was in his prime.
