Then we just traded an awful lot for less than 2 months of Hicks. You don't give that up unless you think you can bring him back on a reasonable deal.

Both Robberse and Kloffenstein need to be added to the 40 man roster this winter, and Kloffenstein in particular was hardly a lock to be added (repeating AA, first season in forever wherein he hasn't been terrible).

This FO has been doing this a lot recently (moving fringe guys before they need to be added to the 40 man).

I don't think they gave up very much

Cubs lost again today, and look kind of dumb for not selling. Not sure they'd get strong offers on Stro, Hendricks, and Belly though.

I think they've indicated that they pulled their guys off the market

I have absolutely no idea what direction the Cubs are going. They gave a ton of money to Swanson to play SS. They resigned Happ to a pretty good deal. But are not likely to resign either Bellinger or Stroman. Barely over .500 and tons of teams to leap from in the NL Wild card. Yet they are going for it. Like ok go for it but extend Stroman? He wants to stay. And if not trade him. Bellinger is going to look to cash in so he probably doesn't want to resign right now.

Cubs had won 8 in a row and are in a very winnable situation.. Hence they decided to go for it. Stroman has not pitched well lately anyway..

Like AA would say, prospects are a dime a dozen.

So true, everyone and I mean everyone over estimates prospects value.

I would say in past years if 2 prospects a team drafted in the 40 rounds made it to the big league as better than replacement level players that was a win-win for any team.

If you hit with 3-4 in a year, a team hit the f***ing jackpot but super rare and i mean super rare this has ever happened.

So to put things in perspective, the 20 players the Jays drafted this year, one might end being better than replacement level! AA got it right with trading prospects, keep the ones that are good, trade away prospects to fill holes whenever you can at any point!

I think the baseball draft of throwing around millions to first round talents gives a profound impression on baseball enthusiasts that every prospects in first 1-3 rounds are can't miss types of talent and assume they are as sure as the "real thing". Stats will show most will not crack AA or flame out at the MLB level due to over-hype, injuries, improper coaching, poor work ethic, improper nutrition, family issues, bad attitude, etc.

So many things stacked against a prospect to succeed and why the Jays undertook a training program for new draft prospects to hopefully put them on the right path to success!

Does he get to take the Padres? Or get odds, c'mon Jonn, drop your balls, bruh.

Why are we bringing up the Padres. This is about the Cubs. You stay out this Spanky.

Hahahaha... you take the same bet with the Padres or Reds, or give him odds.

f*** that. Padres could absolutely go on a run. Way to much talent on that roster for them to be where they are.

So….when Green and Ryu get activated, who gets the DFA punt now?

Hatch and…..which of Danner, Zulu and Francis?

Easy to manage the options, Pearson and either Cabrera or Jackson would have to go down.

Hatch and Lukes would be my guess.

Possibly Otto Lopez. They won't cut Danner or Francis.

More than likely the next trade sorts out the 40-man situation.

Depends on the deadline, so 3 PM Tuesday we'll know, or sooner by trade.

Ben Nicholson-Smith

@bnicholsonsmith

With Angels & Cubs deciding to go for it, high-end trade candidates Ohtani & Bellinger are off the market & there's not a ton out there for teams seeking to upgrade their lineups. “No bats at all," one exec said.

f*** it... just go get Nelson Cruz. His subpar numbers would actually be average on this team and immediately becomes our best pinch hitting option.

This feels light to me, considering Montgomery was a top SP option, I wonder how much pool money they're sending?
