So tell me how this schedule softens up a ton? Yes they play some more sub .500 teams that have been awful, but there are still decent teams that could give the Jays a tough time and it's not going to be easy. Overall, this team has to play better at the end of the day.

Because... They play.... Worse teams... On average...

Vlad Jr. very well may end up being better than his old man was, it's far too early to be making any proclamations one way or the other.

I disagree. Once you cross 2000 ab's it is sufficient to project trends.

Unless you have a crystal ball there's zero way for you to make such a definitive statement and have it be more than conjecture. Vlad is still up and down based on his plate discipline. He's fully capable of cranking out 160 WRC+ months when he's not chasing, and then sub 100 WRC+ months when he starts getting himself out at the plate. There's no guarantee Vlad ever fully clicks at the plate but he's all of 24 and the raw physical tools are still there to be among baseball's elite hitters. His dad didn't produce his first 160 WRC+ season until his age 25 season after all.

Looking at Vlad SRs swing decision plot would be amazing.

project trend =/= definitive statement

Vlad Jr. will have a hard time matching his father's WAR totals given the fact that he plays first base but he has a shot to put up even better offensive numbers over his career.

f*** these stats. Show me wins! Very frustrating to watch. I think the players lack fun and are self absorbed in their own stats (less WM and KK). Despite the BA, Vladdy is awful, Springer is just above average (1.1 war) and AK is just too fat to run. Enuf said. Good night.

His Dad had a career 136 wRC+. On top of the other value tools he had early in career. At this point with Vlad I’d take a 136 season/career. Pretty sure we all think he is capable of even more than that. Maybe he isn’t what we thought and never will be? I don’t know. All I do know is if he doesn’t rake and produce lots of runs, we are probably screwed.

Show me wins, than proceeds to use War?

He may think he can hit balls out of the zone like his old man. He can't. He isn't as good but I think he thinks he is.

That first statement looks pretty damn definitive to me.

I don't understand why this is so hard to grasp. The teams we've played so far have been on average pretty good. The teams we play the rest of the way are, on average, not that great.

We've played one of the hardest schedules to date. We have one of the easiest schedules remaining. Google MLB strength of schedule and nearly all of the results will tell you this.

I've already explained this and then you came back and were talking about how the A's were playing better and how the Red Sox and Giants are no pushovers, etc. I don't really care to get into a debate about whether the A's are a tough opponent or not or how good the Giants are. All I'm saying is that the schedule gets easier.

And yes, of course there are some teams that can give us a tough time, we have over 90 games left. Just because we have one of the easiest schedules remaining doesn't mean we are playing the A's and Royals every day. There are some tough teams mixed in with those 90 remaining games, obviously.

That statement wasn't overly clear. It just says Vlad isn't as good as his old man, and I took it at face value.

Sure it does, he bolded what he replied to. Just saying...

Ok, I see how you interpreted it. That being said, I don't think he will be as good as an overall player (hit tool, speed, defense, etc) as his father either (in my opinion). But in all honesty, I think from reading your posts that you are old enough to have seen Vlad Sr. play, do you really think from what you have seen from juniors last three seasons that he is or will be as good an overall player as his father? As someone posted before, no sure who (Stangstag?) the Vladdy of 2022/23 may just be who he is.

Yeah I fully agree that Vlad most likely won't have the same type of overall impact as his father given that he doesn't have the same kind of toolset with most of his value tied up in his bat. Vlad Jr. needs to hit his vast offensive ceiling if he's to have the same type of overall impact.

I'm old enough to have seen his father play but in those days (at least his Expo days) games which he played in were rarely available for me to actually watch. I think Vlad's issues are mostly mental as he needs to eventually rein in his propensity to hack away at pitches off of the plate. Whether or not he regains the necessary patience to fully leverage his talents is the million dollar question.

He is what we are witnessing now.Said it last year, and I will say it again,we have already seen the best of Vladdy.

That is very likely true, but.... itdoesn't mean the best can't resurface if he can remove his head from his ass.

My all time favorite baseball player to this day.

And I don't think that hit was a hr. Might be wrong.
