Why does Vladdy lineup like that at 1b? Not only is he playing more shallow, he gives himself no chance to tag out the runner on a good throw back from the pitcher.

It's what Mattingly taught him on how to interfere with the runner's line of sight to pitcher, and make them a bit insecure on getting good leads.

His positioning is proven to be a better starting point with a man on. Allows him to cover the hole better while still being to apply a tag on the runners back side on a pick off attempt.

There is no way he can tag out a runner at 1st there. He is playing further off the line but is playing more shallow so give and take there I guess.

Chavez. Drafted 42nd round.

12 years MLB service and $24M career earnings - not bad for a journeyman pen righty for most of his career.

Vladdy doesn't have to be over the bag in order to tag the runner.

Not really a fan of these Chavez glasses. How the hitters suppose to see his eyes.

No GIDP Georgie

Steady diet of breaking balls to Springer. Wish he was a little better at just slapping the ball to RF.

This is a complete and utter disgrace. This guy should never ump another game. I have never seen this many missed calls in my life.

Lol, according to the broadcast that repeatedly talks about it, yes.

Vladdy has been positioning himself like this prior to this year, before Mattingly got here. Maybe he does block off some of the runners sight, but that's not why it's done.

All the offseason rule changes and we still have to put up with these strike zones.

For real... why give fans the technology that you refuse to use a league? It's utter stupidity man.

Take it up with the broadcast that repeatedly talks about why Vladdy is doing that this year specifically, and why Mattingly is the reason.

Unless proven otherwise, I'd trust them since they work closely with the ballclub than any of us do.

I blame Man Boobs for Richards numbers. Keeps putting him in s***** situations.

How can Mattingly be the reason if Vladdy was doing this before he got here?

Iunno, are you saying the broadcast (Dan/Joe) are misinformed and they are just saying things for the sake of it/promote hiring Mattingly was a good move?

I have no stake in this, by the way lol. I'll just agree to disagree.
